Fiber Supplements Needed

Hi, pmacay!

My husband used to take Metamucil that I brought from when I used to travel to the United States. He no longer needs it, but we still have a 15 ounce jar that is fairly full.

It’s no longer sealed and it expired this past October (2025). However, if you would like it, it’s yours for free, just send me a PM and let me know.

I'm running out of Metamucil for my husband, he really needs it as some of his medications cause binding. I checked MercadoLibre and all the Metamucil orders are from international companies. I did order a couple items from their international deliveries and it worked fine, although of course you are paying the import tax, but at least it gets delivered to your home and you don't need to go to the international post office to pick it up.
This thread is 12 years old, does anyone have a suggestion for a local Metamucil type product?

I do Metamucil every two or three months. I use Amazon, Thre is no import tax beyond the VAT 21% or so. I want it, I need it, so pay for it. That is that. Forget ML...it is much more expensive. Local fiber supplements end up costing more.

This must be quite similar to Metamucil:

Thanks for the suggestion of a local fiber product, that does sound very similar to what Metamucil does. I'm going to ask my medica clinica their opinion if it will keep his system working properly. We've found a good balance of using Metamucil and two spoons of chia seeds, and this looks like it would work to replace the Metamucil.

There is also Fibramas in dietetica New Garden. It is a mix of psyllium and linseed. They also sell the psyllium husk powder loose by weight.

Thanks for the suggestions nikad and Ale! I like the name "FIBRA MAAAAASSSSS"! We have a New Garden right around the corner from us!

What about Prune juice with pulp a classic. My favorite brand Del Monte.

Well try your own Prune Juice, buy 300 grs of pitless dried prunes and blend in the mixer with a liter of water and voila. Drink one 4oz glass each morning.Makes like 10 glasses

"In fact, research shows that prune juice appears more effective than psyllium when it comes to improving intestinal tract flow."

New Garden sells a fiber cereal by the kg. It does taste as good as FiberOne or AllBran but it does it serves its purpose.
