Finding Interesting Items For Sale On Mercado Libre

New purchase:

Set of 6 chairs/armchairs, model 811 (the "Prague" model) by Josef Hoffmann (circa 1925/1930).

They look like quite early models (front legs are straight, not curved). Paid 380 USD so 65 USD per chair is not too bad indeed :p

Here a link from a German auction for similar models (different price though):

If someone is interested, this Thonet set is available on Mercadolibre for 12.500 pesos.

Model numbers are 2461 for the sofa and 1461 for the armchairs (designer unknown)

The chairs I bought are indeed an early model because of the straight legs.

Here with an estimate of 600 USD per chair (armchairs likely are worth 800/1000 USD). A 4200 USD purchase while paying 380 USD :D

If only I could find this Scandinavian design (Finn Juhl) chair some day...

It sold for 630.000 USD in a recent auction

My best purchase so far: a painting I bought 20 USD and resold 15.500 USD

I didn't start this thread to promote my own sales on Mercado Libre. In fact, I haven't sold anything there in several years. I just published this listing. If you want to do some comparative shopping, I suggest you search "lotes mates usadas" as well as "pavas usadas" and "jarritas enlozada usadas" for items other venedors have for sale. Everything in the photo below is for sale for $250 pesos. The mates are all in usable condition and so is the pava (tea kettle) but the aluminum is very thin. The "jarritas" enlozada" (enameled steel) have some chips, but the chips are so desirable that new jarritas enlozada are being produced with chips in the finish!

What a very interesting and informative post. I imported Antiques to California for 6 years buying things through a broker in San Telmo where I have an apartment. I never found the great bargains you did. I was always under a deadline which is never a good thing. Hope to meet you some time. Thanks for the posting!
