Fox News Bill O'reilly In Trouble For Falklands War Report

Actually there was, if the execution had been a little bit different. The ARA San Luis alone could have sunk half of the British task force if the Argentine sailers had not armed the torpedoes wrong.
Back in 1982, Argentina had THE BEST equipped military of any non-aligned nation.

Not to mention the exocets. It could easily have gone the other way.

Indeed. If they had waited for the full order of several dozen Exocet, instead of starting the hostilities with only 5 in stock, they could have wiped the Royal Navy from the South Atlantic.

Another case of over exaggerating his war reporting during the Falklands War conflict . He claims that Buenos Aires was a "war zone". I wasn't here then, but I think his version sounds far fetched.

The only reason this has become a new(s) story is what is happening at NBC regarding Brian Williams and the lie he told about being in a helicopter that was hit by an RPG.

This is a great example of spreading the blame by saying "Bill O'Reilly did it, too."

But if the "left" wants to make anyone "lying" about being in a war zone an issue, they had better be prepared for what will resurface in the 2016 campaign...should Hilary run:

How many remember the whopper she told about landing "under sniper fire" in Bosnia?

"In March 2008, giving a foreign policy speech on Iraq about her days as first lady and a trip to Tuzla, Bosnia, she delivered an unbelievable tale.

“I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base.”

So, picture that: Chopper lands, sniper bullets pinging and zinging everywhere, she and her comrades sprinting across the tarmac, perhaps zigzagging to throw off the sharpshooter.

But it didn’t happen. None of it. Right after the speech, she was asked about the sniper fire. “There was no greeting ceremony, and we basically were told to run to our cars. Now, that is what happened,” she lied.

A week later, she changed her whole story, telling the Philadelphia Daily News editorial board that she “misspoke.” Yes, she said that word. When she said snipers had fired at her, when really a little girl had given her a poem, that was her just “misspeaking.”

That is true. But it does not change the fact that traditional media, be it Fox, NBC or CNN, is full of bullshit.

Sourcing a "newspaper" that's the print equivalent of Faux News.

I notice (in your sentence fragment) that you did not actually challenge the quotes which were attributed to Hilary.

Anyone who uses google to search "hilary clinton bosnia landing under fire" (as I did) will find a number of sources that report the same story..including this from the Washington Post:

Neither Brian Williams or Billl O'Reilly will ever run for President of the United States. If Hilary runs and wins then the US will have one more president who is full of bullshit. That, unfortunately, is becoming a tradition.

The way the Argentine high command treated its own troops during the conflict was beyond criminal. They basically sent green and poorly trained conscripts from the northern provinces to occupy the islands and fend off the highly trained and well armed Royal Marines in the Antarctic climate of the Falklands. They basically called their men expendable and sent them to the slaughter house. The contempt and total disregard that the Argentine top military officers demonstrated towards its population and its own troops was something that deeply disturbed the top brass both in Chile and Brazil.

There was a reason why they sent soldiers from up north, you know that right?? Not every decision the military took back then was as irrational as its commander in chief's

Of course there was. No one is claiming that it was a random decision. Instead, it was a very bad decision, based on very flawed logic and very flawed assumptions. It was an amateuristic decision made by people who had very poor strategic skills and little regard for its own troops. But yes, you are right, there was a reason.

None of them, though, will ever be as full of bullshit as a hypocritical hack novelist who droned on for more than 1,000 pages without providing a single insight.

There had been a real threat across the Andes just a couple of years before. The fact that the threat never made a reality makes it easier for us to judge or criticize that decision, but the truth is that it'd have been maniac to leave the Southern provinces without protection.
