Went to the first of the Beethoven series last night at Teatro Colon. The Third symphony was shaky and lacked the kind pf precision that I think the symphony needs but they played the first symphony extremely well. Going again tonight. I bought for 4 nights and it cost me 80 pes in total... quite a bargain. The problem with being "up in the Gods" is there are too many "tourists" who have zero idea how to behave at a classical concert. They were just wondering about taking pictures during the performance.

The complete 2015 season program has something that the website doesn't -- the schedule of six free concerts by the Orquesta Estable del Teatro Colon (pages 102-103) and the nine free concerts by the Orquesta Filarmonica de Buenos Aires (pages 104-105) in La Usina del Arte.

Free tickets (limit 2 per person) can be obtained at the Teatro Colon box office two days before the concert from 10:00am.

Was a great concert tonight. They played the second symphony extremely well. After the disappointing third symphony, I did not hold out much for the fifth.. but they played it brilliantly.

Usually antics up in the cheap seats.. lots of noisy tourists.. drunks.. kids (why do people bring toddlers to concerts?) and somebody collapsed during the second movement of the first symphony from heat exhaustion.
