Hi - no offense at all, please do not worry! i'm very happy to have nothing to do with Moscow, i don't know it very well but i have not known it to be a crime spot, like NYC in 1970-80s for example. Usually crime there has been high only in gang- and mafia related murders/rocket and protection issues, esp in 1990s and early 2000s when people were establishing things. and government made a lot of attempts to 'open ' the country to tourists, they put up milicia everywhere , painted buildings in nice historic colours, lots of art/culture as always been the case. average tourist usually has a good time.
and you are pointing out something important - i noticed it also. There are some real similarities between Argentina (at least BA) and Russia/USSR, politically/economically/and in disregard to individual over society. It's pure socialism except with great level of nonsense and corruption well, at least Argentines have their passports to travel!
