The major mistake Trump made is that he said some really non-PC things particularly about illegal immigrants and women.

It is not a mistake. It is deliberate, calculated and very much a core element of his strategy. He is trying to appeal to a very specific segment of the population, and he is betting that this segment will come out to vote in much higher numbers than the other segments that he is alienating. And I think he is right. Michael Moore thinks it too.
