How much more are you paying for your health (prepaga) insurance?

Medicus Plan Celeste for one person is now 372K.
Sergio's comment that started this thread in December 2023 read "Rates are up substantially due to deregulation", this is coincidentally when I have started paying my prepaga, and it was under 100K. Fast forward one year and a half and now I pay close to 400% more... Insane.
As I am reasonably in good health I am pondering the idea of dropping it and paying out of pocket for all my medical expenses (which have been mostly routine exams and little more), but on the other hand I am afraid about what could happen in case of a catastrophic illness or injury.
Does anyone know if there is a reputable insurance out there that covers only in those particular instances?
I have heard that global traveler's insurances such as SafetyWings are very difficult to deal with when push comes to shove.

Bump. $456,000 for Italiano for July.
My bill for June 2025 was 458,482 for Hospital Aleman.
My bill for June 2024 was 201,761. Unfortunately I turned 65 and that is when you lose your under 65 discount.
At the time it was 80,000
With the monthly increases, loss of discount for age and not being on the plan for 10 or more years (another discount) my plan has more than doubled in one year.

Yeah, it's a mess, and no indication as to when the monthly increases might stop. In addition my copays increase every month as well.

If the USA wasn't a super expensive fascist hellhole I would think about returning and saying hello to Medicare.

My monthly cost of living has increased by 400% since December 2023 and that does not include the cost of a prepaga (because I don't have one).

I dropped my Medicus coverage about 13 years ago, not long after turning 62, if I remember correctly. I had the coverage in CF when I was living in Recoleta and then in Nuñez, within a short walk to their facilities and I thought the coverage was worth the cost of the services provided, as well as not dealing with the public health system.

Soon after moving to my present location I realized that I had to seek out individual doctors who accepted Medicus. It was always an unwelcome effort and I always had to pay something, even though I had the highest level of coverage with Medicus

This changed after a minor emergency which prompted me to see the médico at the nearby clinic, one km from my house, and, after having been sent to the guardia at the hospital in Punta Alta, I soon discovered that public health system here was more than adequate, and would probably be so, even for treatment of more serious conditions in the future.

So far...so good...especially as my overall health has been improving during the past six years.

I was not eligible for Medicare when I was in the USA, so I can only go by from what I had heard. From what I understand it is also difficult to find doctors that accept Medicare patients. Please do correct me if I am wrong. The prospects of having to move back to the USA, live in a van down by the river (rents are insane) just to have a chance of getting health services is not that appealing. Also not accepting the additional Parts B,C and or D initially will also mean having to wait for open enrollment (?) and paying a penalty rate. Reading Steve's post gives me a sliver of hope if I become a citizen. I do believe that any healthcare provider does their best regardless of facility or program that they work in.

I wouldn't disagree with any of that.

Hospital Italiano's bill in July will be ARS 464.800. I have Cigna WorldWide partially paid by my former employer and they reimburse me 80-95% of almost everything everywhere, including the Hospital Italiano's copays and medicines. I only pay USD 81 until this month, the rest of the premium is paid by the employer; it will go up 18% next month.

Resurrecting this thread. My sister in law has Sancor, but pricing has really gone up - $AR 900,000 for her and her teenage son. She’s now pricing out other options. For that price I think OSDE may be an alternative. Any other suggestions?

Hospital Italiano is usually the "cheaper" option. My 50 year old gf is paying less than $300,000p for she and her 22 year old son.

Do you consider Argentina progressive? Just curious.
