Kale Action Plan - Seeking Co-Conspirators

Kale (non-organic) is available at THE GROCERY - Salguero 2660 - Palermo
You have to ask for it at the counter because they don't display it. It's 20 pesos a bunch.

The weekend food fairs around the city where Tallo Verde has a stand.

Today I discovered another street market with organic and vegan foods.

Sabe La Tierra has markets in various neighborhoods. Wednesdays in Balvanera. http://www.sabelatie...-2/balvanera/ I bought a fresh bunch of green kale for 20 pesos.

we have been buying it of late in Coto,

Yup for anybody looking for proof of change in argentina just check this thread out. The quantity of things which are commonly available now and were not 10 years ago is amazing.

I'm a loyal customer of TALLO VERDE at the MAPO feria organica at Tribunales, Plaza Sobral and Parque Rivadavia. For many weeks, they haven't had any kale, so I had to settle for spinach as my replacement for a lunch salad.

During the MAPO feria organica Dec 3-9, I discovered a new source: COMO SIEMPRE ORGANICO I met Walter and Carolina for the first time and bought not one, not two, but three bunches of their Kale Crespo at 48 pesos. It had been so long since I enjoyed fresh kale that one bunch was gone in two or three days. Yesterday, I bought three more bunches of Kale Crespo at Parque Rivadavia from Walter, including red apples, eggplant, two bunches of carrots with tops, green onions, 1 kilo of green bananas, and a bag of dark red cherries. The only product he didn't bring along was blackberries, which are hard to find. I've registered on their website for delivery when I need it. www.comosiempreorganico.com

COMO SIEMPRE ORGANICO
Delivery of certified organic foods

As always organic products are free of pesticides, herbicides, hormones, fertilizers or synthetic additives, both the health of the person who consumes them and the environment, respecting the natural rhythms, enriching the soils naturally, promoting biodiversity and protecting life.

Our vegetables are harvested during the day, without intermediaries or cold rooms, which is why their flavor, aromas and texture are of the highest quality, they are full of life and are kept in good condition for longer. We promote, through our form of exchange, local commerce and the direct producer-consumer link.

After returning home, I walked around the corner to a local club on Pichincha 674 where Que comes Cuando comes sells their organic products on Friday evening and Saturday morning every week. Recently, I discovered they sell individual items as an alternative to the 7 kilo order for a set price of $450. I was glad to see they had a quantify of fresh Kale Crespo. They will continue selling during January and February, whereas the MAPO feria organica ends December 21 until reopening in March.

My nearby supplier Que comes Cuando comes has an abundance of Kale Crespo. I bought two freshly harvested bunches of kale last Saturday morning -- 8 stems for $30. They are the only supplier I've found in the city with bok choy, also $30 each. I told the Chinese family on my block about it, and they immediately went to buy some. The 7 kilo order is now $500ars and worth every peso if you eat strictly organic produce. Find them on FB to place your order.

Besides a salad with deveined kale, I use kale for this hair & skin smoothie from Naked Food Magazine

1/2 organic green apple
1 banana, peeled
1/2 avocado, pitted and peeled
1 leaf organic kale
1 spring of lavender
2 cups filtered water
Add all ingredients into a blender and process.
Drink with a stainless steel smoothie straw

I am delighted that my local organic market has not only expanded from two days to six days, but also carries a larger variety of produce. They had three varieties of Kale last week since this is the season for it.

I order from Tallo Verde online that delivers ($150) to my door and walk a block to a club at Pichincha 674 where Que Comes Cuando Comes is established in Balvanera for more than a year. They know I'm the one who always asks for kale. If Tallo Verde doesn't have what I need, Que comes Cuando comes usually does at Pichincha 674. I'll be going there more often now that they're open daily.

Que comes Cuando comes delivers ($100) within the capital federal.

I want to promote Que comes Cuando comes in my neighborhood since it is one of very few sources for organic produce in the city. The hours are noted in the previous post. If you buy the bulk order of 7 kilos of vegetables and fruits for $500, the cost is incredibly low for a large selection.

I went today to take photos and give you an idea of what they carry and their prices. Bring bags or shopping cartDSCN4277 Pichincha 674.JPGDSCN4278.JPG

I had food delivered from BioMarket last week - while my order of organic kale wasn't actually fulfilled, they did have it on the menu. The rest of the vegetables (and organic meat) I received were good.
