Kfc And Wendy's Opened Today

I like argentinian food, and i like better a minuta in a cheap Fonda instead of plastic food like Pizza Hut, McDonald's or any fast food chain.
Of course the good food will find in the expensive restaurants like in other countries.
I like the churros with hot chocolate in the breakfast,.Starbucks serves a filthy coffee in a paper cup with artificial cake.

Starbucks serves the the best drip coffee in the city and some of the best espresso as well. I've had better coffee here but it was far and few between. Also they have the nicest stores, the best customer service and for the most part their baked goods are leaps and bounds above the dry spongy empalagosas facturas that you find in most places.

Starbucks is providing a long overdue kick in the proverbial ass to the stagnant culture of disgusting over-priced coffee that permeates the wretched corner cafés of this city!

Three McDonald's meals per day

Maybe McDs started a new concept of high calorie fast food in massive portions but world wide obesity has now gathered a momentum of its own and from this program on obesity in Argentina you can see it's as much as overeating on unhealthy food at home (deep fried pasta???) as quarter pounding it at the Golden arches. Love them or hate them, both KFC and Wendy's opened their doors in Alto Palermo today.

I'm off to get a bucket.

Comments about KFC have been covered in an earlier thread

Personally I think that it is indeed public spirited of anyone to take a bucket with them if actually considering going to a KFC

Not only is this the perfect utensil for neatly and inconspicuously disposing of the inevitable reappearance of ones own stomach contents but can also be passed over to others to wash down the pavement outside as others vomit up the nauseating filth

We went to Wendy's yesterday. The line was fine, but the one for KFC was huge. The burger was good, bun was very nice as were the fries. Baked potato was doable. The consistency of the Frosty was dead on, but they've got to work on the taste. All in all a fun trip down memory lane. Oh, and the indoor playground was awesome.

I watched that show. Kinda sad to see. I had thought Argentine's were all skinny-obsessives. Turns out it's the fattest country in South America.

Yep I have to say this is true. Its sad state of affairs when Starbucks is the best coffee in town. Although I do have to say Havana do very good coffee. But their medilunas vary depending on what branch you go to.

Um sorry SB not best coffee in town

Corner Cafe coffee is variable - some very bad. Fun to search out the good ones and those with ambience of which there are so many fine and good examples

Starbucks on the other hand is consistantly bad soapy fatty mock-coffee that can only survive with taste destructive sugar by the bag load

If you know good coffee you will not go to Starbucks http://www.ihatestar...opic.php?id=496

why do people want to abandon the essence and individuality of Buenos Aries and turn it into yet another Clone Town?

Which has been so destructive elsewhere e.g the UK. http://www.neweconom...ne-town-britain

Hats off to the French and Italians in this regard

and to the Bares Notables

That video was filmed in the village 31 of Retiro, that an illegal settlement of undocumented foreigners.
These people have economic problems, they are without work because of their undocumented status.
Unfortunately the food that is high in fat is usually consumed by poor people because it is inexpensive and produces in the body a sense of satisfaction and satiety. The consumption of the poorest people is unbalanced,.with more carbohydrates, more fat, more sugars and less dense nutritional food.

Seems very real to me.

"“In Argentina, between 2.5 and 3.0 percent of preschoolers were obese in the 1980s, compared to 10 percent today,” Dr. Esteban Carmuega, with the Centre of Studies on Child Nutrition (CESNI), told IPS. “We lead the statistics in the region.”
The average for South America is 6.8 percent, Carmuega said."
