Somewhat off topic but it boggled my mind...
I live near the Exposition bakery on the corner of Juncal and Libertad and frequent the place almost every day for sandwiches, media lunas, and various baked goods especially desserts. I have found that its prices are fair despite the fact they have tracked inflation and perhaps even over compensated for it. They stay ahead of the curve.
I decided to make myself a homemade hamburger today so after purchasing the ground beef at Disco, I went to buy a single hamburger roll of normal size at Exposition. It cost 3.5 pesos. For one ordinary, small hamburger roll ...very much like the commercial packaged kind that come 8 to a package. I almost asked if I could rescind the purchase, but as I am a frequent customer I didn't want to make a big deal out of it. At the legal rate that is US 70 cents for a small roll. If that is typical, I am amazed how expensive such items are. How does a regular working stiff put bread on the table these days?
