Medialunas In The Usa?

Camberiu, imagination please. Not all halfmoon shaped pastries are meant to be croissants... Medialunas are relatives of the Italian cornetto..

Thanks. Do they have Argentine style chorizo ? That's really hard to find.

I haven't been there, just found it on a search. I almost never go to SF, except for http://www.hardlystrictlybluegrass.com/2014/

Here are your medialunas in SF: http://www.vengaempa...ir/?page_id=320, in the Mission District.

You can even get a kale empanada!

Thank you! I knew they had to exist here. I've gone by that place a bunch of times and never stopped. When I get a chance to check it out, I will report back...maybe even tomorrow.

If there are any other Northern Californians out there with similar cravings, La Farine definitely doesn't have medialunas, although it's a great bakery. The El Porteno kiosk in the SF ferry building has quite good empanadas, and you can even get them delivered now with Amazon Fresh. (Yes, I've gone back to Bay Area native, and sometimes it is GREAT.)

By the way, I love croissants too. And at least medialunas are waaay better than Argentina pizza!!

In Northern Italy , croissants are called Brioche. They are plain , filled with marmalade or cream. Sold all over Italy , in every bar and Autoservizio stop. Carnettos are found more in the south of Italy. In Italy , you can find a big donut called a "bombetto"

In many regions there are different styles. Some have fresh honey or marmalade to put on your brioche. Other areas fill them with chocolate. In Liguria , foccacia is the local morning favorite.

Medialuna's in Argentina are just not as good as the French or Italian versions. Although with enough butter or marmalade are edible.
