PEOPLE READ!!
1) You HAVE TO update your DNI if you get your (temporary) residency renewed for another year.
2) You HAVE TO update your DNI if you change from being a temporary to a permanent resident, this is called CAMBIO DE CATEGORÍA.
3) If you get a DNI as a CHILD under 16 years, when you turn 16 years old you must get a new picture in your DNI.
4) You only ARE REQUIRED to get a NEW DNI (if you already have one) if you go to update or change categories and the DNI is in bad condition (they will determine this for you at the registro de las personas)
