There is a way through offshore longterm saving plans available for expats by life insurance companies. It does exist...slight...huge problem...you have to commit to transfer money for a certain time..anything between few months to 2 years...and then who knows what is happening with AFIP tomorrow if they simply decide that you cannot use your cc...and with the 15%...that's not great...but...

Again has anyone just been to uruguay or chile to change their pesos to dollars?

As I already told you, you can do this, but at a premium. Go to "Dolarhoy.com," and click the Uruguayan flag. There, you will see how many pesos you need to buy dollars.

Cambio Bacacay currently offers the best listed prices: http://www.cambiobacacay.com/cotizaciones.php

Cambio Bacay lists the peso Argentino to Dollar at the Blue Market Rates 5,90/6,50? the official rate not listed?

The point is that NOWHERE outside of Argentina is anyone taking pesos at the "official" rate. Heck, it's not like it's even easy to do IN Argentina. That's because the official rate is a made up rate that the markets don't support. Whether you do it here on the black market or in another country, you're going to be paying at least 6 pesos to the dollar (or whatever the black market rate is for Euros).

It is not the Blue market rate as that is something that exists inside Argentina, this is the free market rate for the Argentine Peso. The ony country you will be able to buy Dollars with your pesos at the "official" 4.6x rate is Argentina, and then only with AFIP approval.

Does anyone other than Cristina's Connected Cronies get the AFIP Approval?
