Mostly we all agree that Argentinas road figues are very high and most people also agree that the driving here is very bad . Every is well aware that statistics are manipulated in the western media to create their desired effect . Does everyone remember all the studies about Iraq nuclear weapons that were confirmed by everyone from George Bush, tony Blair , and all the CIA reports with reports updated on a daily basis. These were fed to us as facts before the war . Now we know that they were damn lies and damn lies.

Argentina has a very high road toll per capita certainly much higher than Europe and the USA . I like someone here to name one country in Europe with worse road toll figures? The excuse about cars is invalid as Argentinas cars are not the problem. Its the drivers and the attitudes in driving fullstop.
The amount of deaths on the province roads are disturbing and the government and provincinces must act now to change this for the betterment of the Argentinian society.

Honestly, I don't know why you continue to compare Argentina to Europe or the US? Apples/Oranges.

As for the cars, well,

"A growing concern among auto clubs and consumer groups is the marked difference in safety performance of car models sold in Europe when compared with Latin America. Some manufacturers remove from their Latin American production key safety systems (air bags, seat belt pre-tensioners, electronic stability control etc.) that ensure high five star scores in Europe’s EURONCAP tests. For example, two years ago Volkswagen was accused of ‘irresponsible savings’ on safety equipment after the Latin American version of its Fox city car scored very poorly in consumer crash tests. The tests carried out by consumer groups revealed that the Brazilian version of the Fox gained just two stars, whilst the European version Fox scored a respectable four stars when both models were subject to Euro NCAP crash tests. Adding to the safety scandal it then emerged that the Latin American Fox was more expensive to buy than the much better-equipped European Fox!"

You mean a false report about nuclear weapons in Iraq (not a statistical analysis BTW) invalidates all statistics? Or does this only apply to the statistics which run counter to your own points of view? Could there really be some shadowy world government hell bent on manipulating global road fatality statistics so that Argentina's appear less grave in relation to the rest of the world than they really are or could it just be that your notions of how things should be in the world don't quite accord with reality on this occasion? If there have been questions raised about the accuracy of that report specifically with regard to the Argentinian numbers then please link to the accusations, if you are looking at more recent, credible or comprehensive global road fatality statistics then again please link, otherwise what are you referencing to make your claims other than your own impressions? Are you an omniscient being?

Even the world average is higher than Argentina, so can we say then, globally, Argentina's road fatalities are below average?

I guess the list would be a bit smaller if you restricted it to EU nations.

Look up circular reasoning.

If you think the situation with regard to road fatalities is a disgrace in Argentina then just say so, but please stop inventing 'facts' based on your own notions of how things should be.

I dispute your facts Moxon and please post a reliable link that can justify your misinformation that is not from the World health Organisation or Wikaepedia.

These are the facts for Eastern Europe and below is South America.

These very reliable figures were done in 1990s and Argentina since then has become worse due to more cars Russia is slightly worse than Argentina and the worst country world wide is the Central African Republic followed by Ethiopia.

Uruguay and Colombia are slightly worse than Argentina. Argentina is 3rd in South America with 18 deaths per 100000 people per annum .

There is no misinformation - I have provided the link. You are referencing the last major global study of road fatalities before the 2009 WHO report which I am referencing. I asked you that if you are looking at more recent, credible or comprehensive global road fatality data to please link to the report. Your report is obviously not more recent so can you provide links to reports that argue that it is more credible or comprehensive?

Even using your older report, fatality risk (deaths/100,000 population):
Argentina 18.4
Latvia 22.1
Russia 19.9
Slovenia 19.5
