Positive Post On Expat Life In Ba - Beware!

How about the fact that the 8000 peso per month income needed to qualify for a dni has gone from approximately $2000 US a month in 2011 when the exchange rate was around 4 pesos to 1US dollar to $912 US a month at the current official exchange rate of around 8.77 pesos to the dollar. Definitely not a benefit for locals but for us expats that now qualify it's great to be able to live here legally.

Can you get Jack Daniels again yet? Even in URU I wish I could get some Mountain Dew. Hot Pastrami sounds interesting we have two types of Pastrami over here it is well OK or more or less. I have been looking high and low for veal and have not found that yet.

There are actual spicy sauces sold in normal supermarkets now and Quilmes, Imperial and others make and sell stout, red, bock and a few other beers. (ignoring the microbreweries that appear to be springing up now.)

yeah, the beer market seems to be growing and you can find many varieties that were unheard of years ago. http://www.conexionbrando.com/1595715 http://artesanalmentecervezas.blogspot.com.ar/ http://southbeercup.com/sbc-2014/ganadores2014

My local Disco used to carry a nice selection of German beers. No longer. I assume it is because of import issues.

I just wonder where all the Venezuelan products are  Oops, forgot, there are none in Venezuela, not even toilet paper. Viva la revolcuion bolivariana!
The Chinese ones are for sure here! Here and everywhere!
I actually wish we had Iranian ones here. Pomegranite sauces, fabulous dried fruits and nuts(yes, I know we have them here, too, but the ones in Iran taste better) and safron, the best in the world! Not to mention reasonably-priced basmati rice!

There definitely has been a huge increase in the variety/options available for food. And some really great restaurants have opened here in the last few years. While I love a good parilla, it's really nice to have variety!
