Self employed aka Digital Nomad

I'm going to have a direct contract with US company and would like to live and pay taxes in AR (BA)

There are several monotributo categories, but what to do if your sallary more than in last category?
Do I still have an ability to avoid to pay huge taxes?

How to count your incoming money in peso if you have contract in dollars and going to recieve money to dollar's account ?

Do I need to do something before flight to AR?
We have tourist's visa for 90 days and in general I need permission to live with my wife and childrens (They are not going to work)
If and when the digital nomad visa is approved, you would have to comply with the following conditions to have (legal) "permission" to work in Argentina and live here with your family:

If I understand correctly, if you are here more than six months and if you have to pesify your foreign income at the official rate, you will end up with about half the gross income in pesos compared to sending yourself the funds by Western Union.

It also looks like you would need to already have another form of legal residency (temporary or permanent) to be able to work remotely for a foreign company that is not registered to do busines in Argentna if you want to live here year round.

If that's the case, the digtal nomad" visa will not on its own give you legal residency and the DNI and the CUIT/CUIL or grant "permision" for you and your family to live in Argentina for more than six months.

The digital nomad visa would give you the opportunity to fullfil your desire to live in and pay taxes in Argentina in acordance with the following:

Digital Nomad (less than 6 months)
- Exempt from domestic taxes (except IVA)
- Exempt from Bienes situados en el exterior
- Can in theory access the Savings Account for Tourists once available, and receive a better exchange rate
- Not required to pesify via the MULC
- Possible to use WU, even though current regulation stipulates it is for familiar support (rarely, if ever enforced, users here been doing it for years)
- Must earn income from foreign companies/persons (i.e. visa/passport stamp prohibits working for an Argentine employer)

Digital Nomad (more than 6 months)/Working Remotely for a Foreign Employer as a Citizen or Resident (Temporary or Permanent)
- Has a form of legal residency
- Must obtain a CUIT/CUL/CDI
- Must register with AFIP
- Must adhere to monotributista regime (provided annual income for 2021 is under $2.6 Million pesos at the official exchange rate)
- Must subscribe to an Obra Social
- Required to issue type E facturas to foreign clients
- Must pesify and repatriate (send to Argentina) funds within 5 days of receiving payment for goods/services rendered via the MULC (official exchange rate)
- Depending on province, pay Ingresos Brutos
- For Bienes situados en el exterior that exceed $3,000,000 ARS (not including a primary residency up to $18,000,000 ARS or bonds/Argentine/Provincial debt) you pay a graduated wealth tax with a floor of 0.70% up to a maximum of 2.25%
- If you repatriate at least 5% of the total assets valued abroad (i.e. $150,000 if you have $3 Million ARS worth of assets abroad) AND you keep these assets in Argentina until December 31st of the year, you can become exempt from paying the Bienes Personales

This is the most ominous post I have read in this forum since I joined almost 16 years ago.

I happen to agree with it completely.

Perhaps Lunar used the metaphor in a differet way that I interpret it, so I would greating appreciate knowing if I missed the meaning.

While I wouldn't use the "iron curtain" mataphor to decribe what is happening, I woudn't be surprised in the least to see it used by someone who actually lived part of their life behind one, but of course I don't know if that applies in this instance..

At this time I don't believe the "iron curtain" is coming down on one region such as Eastern Europe.

I believe it is coming down on the entire planet..

The Pollyannas of this forum are welcome to disagree.

PS: As always, the Pollyannas of this forum are welcome to disagree..

...especially the ones who, in the past, have suggested that I need more tin foil...

...which I do, but only to make a dress for my girlfriend.
As is often said, "there is no cure for stupidity". Hard to fathom how someone can support socialist ideas
/domocracommunist policies. Sad to see America failing. I know a good seamstress for the dress if you're interested.

please provide legitimate reference confirming that '' statement '' Argentina made...... thx

Well that was just before a certain “special military operation” happened. You ask the Casa Rosada now days about their intentions with Russia... awkward silence.

Like Perón‘s warm words about Hilter’s Germany pre invasion of Europe - Argentina’s history of fumbling it’s way through foreign affairs and buddying up to tyrants is repeating itself. As long as they pay up and don’t come too close, it really doesn’t care what others do.

At least no bombs or occupiers here, nor any regime that forbids even the most basic freedom of expression. Argentina again is safe haven for those impacted by such tragic events, as long as such people bring dollars with them.

If you have dollars, you will 100% find a way to settle here whether “legally” or “irregularly”. The more this crisis drags on and more people from that region start coming this way, the more challenging it will become however (eg extra scrutiny of “tourists” at the border etc.)

Good thing Argentina has already stated it wants to be Russia's gateway to South America. That iron curtain is not far away...
Alberto said it on February 4th, which is now ancient history.

The admission standards are pretty low with even Nicolas Maduro on the right side of the iron curtain.
(Apparently, the project to install an alternative democratic president in Venezuela is officially over now).

U.S. officials visit Venezuela on Saturday to discuss easing sanctions on Venezuelan oil export

So, Argentina is likely to be OK.

Thanks you for your kind offer, but a seamstress will not be required to make the tin foil dress for my girlfriend.

The tin foil will be applied by hand,(by me) directly to my girlfriend's body.

Making the dress will be even more pleasurable than seeing her wearing it. 🤠

Thanks a lot for these answers!
Sorry, that I did not mention before:
1) I can not get US contract untill open dollar account at bank :(
2) my company does not care about AFIP and will not. I should care about it.
3) at least.. do I have ability just open account and receive money?..(dreaming face)
4) I heard some thing about rantie visa ... Can it help me?

I think I almost agree to pay all necessary taxes. Just want to understand how much and how to handle it..

And once I get it, I also hope to find rent flat for good price(like for local) due to have all necessary documents :)

It's not as simple as this, you're way ahead of yourself right now. As much as AFIP will gladly take your money, they're not interested in dealing with you if you have no legal residency in the country.

So some basic questions we need answered to better guide you:

- What is your country of citizenship?
- Is it just you, or do you have a spouse and/or children?
- How much money in dollars will you be earning roughly?
- How long do you plan on staying?
- Also, fyi in advance you're not getting an apartment like a local, because apartments barely exist for locals, we can go in to the deeper later

This will help determine 1st if you can even enter Argentina as a tourist, and, more importantly, what your paths to stay might be if it's going to be longer than 180 days.

So..
1) all family has a Russian citizenship
2) with my family: wife and two childrens. Officially registered
3) about 3600 per month
4) I plan to stay 1 year, but..if everything goes well.. with ability to stay up to 2 years to take new citizenship (for now - it's not a goal/ not important)
