Social Unrest And Looting In Bariloche...

My wife just went to the Disco on Esmeralda at Libertador. She's acquaintances with one of the cashiers there. The cashier told her that the Coto that is near the Villa 31 is under attack. This is completely unconfirmed - I'm mentioning this because the employees in the Disco are terrified of what's going on in Bariloche and San Fernando. This particular Disco is just on the other side of the train tracks from the villa.

Of course, coincidentally, I do hear sirens and whistles - but those are not uncommon noises anyway, on any given day.

Yeah, there is something going down...I work on Avenida Alvear and around four pm, we were told that chaos was coming our way. We shut the store, waited a bit in the street...heard a few more stories going around (I believe a pharmacy had been attacked or whatever during this time, but I have no idea if this is true or not). About thirty minutes later, we all just went home.
Other shops closed up as well.

A few in Nazaca and Avelleneda - stores getting robbed of clothes and stuff . Most guys juts shut down

As a result almost all the chinos in NAZCA in Flores and Villa del Parque are either closing or restricting entry to known clients.

4 of my local shops are closed

Most, if not all of the supermarkets & many small shops are closed 45 kms North of BA (Pilar/Del Viso/Jose C Paz/San Miguel).

If I am in a supermarket and I see a riot..I am going to give a tight kick on arses and one tight slap on the faces of 2-3 of the looters for sure. That I have decided already!

The looting has reached my neighbourhood, Constitucion. A chino on San Juan corner of San Jose or Solis was looted according to those working at my local chino. All the minimarts near me are either closed or with blinds down and a little door to get through. They said La Boca and Once are also experiencing lootings.

Under the guidance of her whimsical majesty the Red Queen, (as in "Off with their heads!") Argentina is fast becoming just another Venezuelanized third world shit-hole. I have no use for it. Cost benefit analysis impelled me to get out for good about 5 months ago.

In my opinion the roots of all these problems throughout the S.A. continent (which express themselves with especial virulence in Argentina) are deep in the hispanic culture with it's endemic and intractable agression, predation, recklessness, selfishness and dishonesty. I suspect 800 years of Islamic conquest througout Iberia had some influence as well. As a result Spanish and Portugese Christianity and secular culture had to have become shifted toward the norms of middle ages Islam which encouraged conversion by violence and deception sanctioned by God. That would explain a lot about the church-sanctioned violence and exploitation that is the history of the "new world" and it's chaotic legacy that we can observe every day.

The Argentines (Porteños anyway) with their anachronistic obsession with the benefits of Freudian analysis and their compulsive pseudo-intellectual attachment to internationally discredited neo-Marxian theory in addition to all their other aforementioned cultural baggage are prime examples of their inherited tendency toward dysfunction. Some of the worst on the continent in my experience. That's why I'm gone for good.

Puerto Rico is quite pleasant, though. Delightful blend of the Latin and the U.S. American. Amazingly clean, orderly, respectful and considerate for a latin country. More than any other I've visted and I've seen them all from the Mexican border to Tierras del Fuego. Despite all their fiery rhetoric and the many mistakes the U.S. has surely made more of South America would do well to consider a close alliance with the U.S. I suspect It would civilize them substantially.

Wow. What a stupendous load of shite.

I completely agree (see my previous post) whatever shite is :)

I hope you have back armor. You might be the recipient of a shiv or two (or are you one of baexpats resident martial arts geniuses?) Might be better to composer yourself and remove yourself from the situation. Just because the police and/or legal system don't work well (at all!), vigilante justice is not the sane choice either.
