The Case Of The 22 Year Old Virgin... Could It Happen Here ?

Let's hear from somebody with the courage and eloquence to put it all in context:

Yes, if it was my loved one I'd be angry too. I'd try to find someone to blame or a quick fix too. Poor guy. I empathize with his grief. But that does not change the fact that the chances for someone in the US to be killed by a random act of gun violence remains ASTRONOMICAL. Crime rate, including murder, is at a historical low. His son was extremely unfortunate, but there is no gun crime crisis in the US.

The problem with your argument Camberiu is that if we extrapolate it we might conclude that there's not a crime crisis here. If there's no crime crisis then 90% of the politicians and newspapers lose their bread and butter: scaring the population with isolated incidents, just as was done in the US in the 90's to create an overbloated industrial prison complex.

There is a gun crisis, and it's getting worse, but we can work toward a solution. A good start would be to make certain that guns and their owners, like cars and their drivers, be licensed and insured. That's true, of course, unless you agree that

I wonder if this guy was into gaming and that's how he developed his social skills?

Must be, because all teenager that are playing computer games don't have any social skills; and if they play games like CS, they are going to make a massacre for sure!

What I meant by "free" was free ACCESS, not that anyone was giving weapons away for free on the street. Don't tell me about weapons registries and all that. Let's face it, it's incredibly easy to get pretty much any weapon you want in the US, as well as a bunch of armor-piercing cop killer bullets and some military quality assault rifle that sprays a million bullets a second (I am overstating here, in case that isn't clear since my "free" comment was so misunderstood), and yet people are going to insist that they have a right to own these weapons. Oh, and of course, you need the body armor available over the Internet so you can shoot a classroom full of first graders and make sure nobody takes you down until you're good and done and get to make the choice to kill yourself quickly.

There's no reason for people to get their hands on these weapons, not for hunting and not for self-defense. If we didn't have so many guns in the US, people wouldn't need so many of them to "defend" themselves. Or should we just issue guns to everyone and call it a day? No thanks.

Also, I did not watch the video. No need to make this guy into more of a "celebrity" than he already is or add to the audience for his vitriol.

It is not easy to get a "military quality assault rifle that sprays a million bullets a second" (or even more than one without pulling the trigger again) unless "you" are one of the following:

(1) the Secretary of Agriculture
(2) the Secretary of Energy
(3) the Secretary of Health and Human Services
(4) the Secretary of Transportation
(5) the Secretary of Defense
(6) the Secretary of Commerce

They are all authorized to procure the weapons pursuant to an Executive Order written by President Obama on March 16, 2012 entitled, "NATIONAL DEFENSE RESOURCES PREPAREDNESS". This gives him sole authority to seize control over all resources in the nation (labor, food, industry, etc.) as long as it is done "to promote the national defense".

Here's the link to the official solicitation for short burst semi automatic "machine guns" by the Dept. of Agriculture: https://www.fbo.gov/...b=core&_cview=0

The purchase of 1.6 billion hollow point bullets by the Dept. of Homeland Security has been "explained" as a "cost saving" bulk purchase of ammo to be used for "training" exercises.

The "Puffington Post" article failed to ask one important question: Training for what?

I wonder how many remember presidential candidate Obama saying that "We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set," Obama said. "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

Should we just issue guns to everyone and call it a day?

It's probably already too late for that.

Edit: I found this in the results of a google seach after submitting the above post: http://www.shtfplan....-force_02042013

You forgot the Dept. Of Education, which has its own SWAT team.
