The Economist: "Why is Argentina’s economy such a mess?"

Great financial history lesson. Didn't go into the possible impact of dollarization as expected though.
 
TLDW version: Peronism created a massive welfare state, a protectionist economy, a massive bureaucracy and tried to pay for it all by printing money.

Result: a perennially sick economy, a financial system which doesn’t work, and a currency which is increasingly worthless.
