The worst pizza in the world?

It just goes to show how perception is affected by belief and mood. There are plenty of people out there who believe that if something is colorful, popular, and cheap, that it *must* be good. This alters their sensory reaction to it.

Belief is a powerful drug. A person who is stoned on cannabis or drunk on beer will sometimes enthusiastically eat things (or quantities!) that he would reject when sober. Likewise, a person who is zonked on B.S. (Belief System) can have a very similar reaction.

As with bad sex, even bad pizza ain't all that bad...

Why do we always go back to American obesity when we talk about food? It's getting really really boring! Food is life. And there are many cultures in the world where food is the center of the family and who take great pride in what they cook & serve, not just slap some meat on the fire.

And yes there is good and bad food.

I think the discussion started on how "tasty" or "spicy" a pizza was.
Don't bring culture into this. Maybe if you are italian... ok, I can accept your arguments about how "true" to italian pizza standards one of the other is.
And even so, I could argue that now there exists argentine standards, american standars, australian standards and so on...

And since we are it, please define what's good and bad food. There is tons of subjetivity in that matter, so i want to see how you wrap in your own trap.

Easy: good food is everything I like and bad food is everything I don't like. (The latter being easily defined as 'everything that contains onions!')

hth
;)

This thread never seems to die but truthfully there is some great food in Buenos Aires that is accessible to all budgets. Yes it does not have the variety of Australia, Europe and Asia but also food should be defined by not just taste as explained very eloquently by Billsfan as this is one of the causes of obesity I fully agree.

Food at its most simplest is the best for us without fancy sauces, rich fatty cheeses and all the rest . Buenos Aires today does have more choices and especially in fast food that unfortunately has created a more unfit, obese population .
In 5 years here its been a very noticeable change for the worst in this regard.

Why can't I bring culture in to this but you can? You just threw out "american's are obese because they are obsessed with food". There are many cultures that are "obsessed" with food & are not obese.

I'd be happy to show you good vs bad food. Come on over. I'll serve you both good & bad food. There is SOME subjectivity. But it's not completely subjective.

Fast food is a luxury in Argentina. [no one said fast food is good food either] Check out the prices. What you have observed in the last 5 years is not an increase in disposable income for people to blow on Mickie Burgers. It's a decrease in disposable income forcing people to buy and consume lesser quality foods plus more cheap sweets and bread based products.
Add TV and internet and lack of exercise, combined with longer work days [to compensate for inflation] and you have an unhealthy formula.
You have been to Paris where sauces and creams are plentiful maybe you've been to Southern California. In either place you have a difficult time finding the fat asses that show up at Disney World.
Maybe the "Good" in Good Food stands for Good For You. And not much more than 2500 calories of Good per day. Depending.

Wrap in your own trap?

Anyway, it's easy to go down the slippery "everything is relative" slope. If some guy enjoys eating street rats raw, who can say that it's bad food if the guy likes it, right?

But I think that those of us who grew up with a great variety of excellent food, while obviously developing different individual tastes, can generally find some common ground when discussing food quality. Cheap Argentine pizza is made with low quality ingredients and little effort. It's crap. But that doesn't mean that someone can't like it. I eat some crappy things from time to time, like McDonalds, and I enjoy it. But I don't pretend that it's anything other than crap. I wouldn't argue with a chef at a Michelin 3-star restaurant that my Big Mac is every bit as good as his signature dish simply because I happen to like Big Macs.

If you like crappy Argy pizza, fine. Enjoy! But, c'mon, it's crap and you know it.

Good points Ghost but all of this comes down to education and eating the right amount of calories for energy expanded. There is no doubt though that processed foods are the cause of most obesity as they are created for the purpose to make you eat more than your body requires.

The slimmest people in the western world are the Japanese . The Argentinians with a reputation for slimness are actually the 13th fattest nation on earth which is no suprise with their love of high release carbohydrates like icecream , breads, sugar and more sugar in the form of soft drinks and dulce de leche etc etc.

I agree..........for once.
Now you've stepped on a subject worse than pizza....dulce de leche. Pure junk food with zero virtue. [Ohhhhhh my, I'm really going to slammed on that statement] Oh well now it's a "food fight"
Local pizza still sucks though.
