thinking of moving to argentina

I would call BA second world and developing to answer an earlier question.

Really? Which communist bloc are we currently aligned with?
Oh the Union of Bolivarian Socialist Republics, I forgot, my apologies.

Argentina is an emerging market. Rapid growth rate, lots of work to be done in catching up with the developed world, but still a lot wealthier than the developing world.

If you are counting on someone employing you you'll probably need to live nearish to BA, but that can include living outside in very peaceful countryside sytle surrounding if you're happy to commute in to work. If you can work from home you don't even need to consider BA. If you don't like noisy big cities, well, BA is a noisy big city. Dirty, run down, charming, decrepit and very much alive. Some love it some hate it. Personal taste.

I'd check out barioloche if you want a manageable city with a sense of being in the country. Spectacularly beautiful and more more relaxed.

Material goods are expensive, domestic stuff isn't the best and imported goods can be up to 2-3 times what you'd pay back home. You could ship it all with you or accept you're going to have to downsize a bit.

If you arrive here with a good knowledge of spanish grammar you'll be able to tackle the accent and idiosyncracies of the language without problems.

A lot of it all comes down to your attitude. If you come here with a willingness to learn the language, a will to communicate and integrate, large reserves of patience and realistic expectations I'm sure you could find whatever you are looking for here.

Suerte.

Nice one.

I gave it a 2nd world rating because you can drink the water, the dogs don't bite, and there is broadband internet available almost everywhere.

When I was at school - a loooooong time ago - I was taught that the first world was the "known world" to the ancients, the second world was the "discovered world" - the Americas, Oceania etc settled by the explorers - and the third world was the developing world. I realise that has nothing to do with the definition that grew up during the cold war but I like it anyway.
