Very Good Article - Democracy & Peronism For Beginners

Colin wrote: "But Kirchnerism is fighting against the unions, assisting businesses in their productivity investments and reducing sovereign risk through low debt — all recommendations by Rodrik. Protectionism is a necessary trade-off to building a solid industrial base from which a country can begin to innovate from".

"And it’s still a true democracy, where a guy like Massa can mobilize a coalition to counterbalance Cristina. Where Macri has an opportunity to offer his own vision. Cristina is insular, but that’s only because of her overwhelming success: If the opposition want her to change, start winning elections. With the recent wave of support for Massa and others, Kirchnerists have softened their stance on many policies — they’re listening, just as you would expect a party with a strong majority that needs to tweak its stances to keep it’s power in the future. And if they’re unsuccessful in listening to the people, they’ll lose footing: See 3 weeks ago.. It’s been ugly, but post-2001 Argentina has been democratically resilient, despite it being hard to imagine a worse crisis of confidence to strike a country."

"Then there’s more curious claims, like ‘prices are rising faster than wages and that fewer jobs are available’. Wages in Argentina are out-pacing even the private estimates for inflation. Unemployment in Argentina is steady at 7.3%. Foreign investment grew 27% in 2012 and is continuing this trajectory 2013 — even a company nationalized a year agomanaged to finance a billion dollar project, much to the dismay of commentators. I don’t think anyone is arguing Argentina is on the path to becoming an dynamic economic powerhouse, but if you’re going to make bold claims about impending doom, it’s important to get your facts straight."

WTfunky? Nothing more than another 'Chardonay socialist' espousing economic idealism & failed theories. Too thick on INDEC concepts & too thin on the practical. Bianca was on target. On ya Bianca! :)

Whatever side of the bed you lie on, is it a massive over-simplification to say that 'if everyone stopped worrying about inflation, inflation would probably stop continually rising'. From my limited seven weeks in B.A. so far, my observations seem to be that everyone is just panicking and saying 'oh my GOD all these prices are just going up and up and up so I have to increase mine too!'. While I've read various criticisms of the '500 product price-freeze', I can completely understand the reasoning behind it, even if the implementation was a bit wonky.

Or is there far more to it?

(PS - challenge me!)

I have been reading the bubble since it went live- I was a fan of Bianca Fernet's previous blog- http://notparis.com/
and find it very entertaining.

No, of course not everything they write is the gospel truth- its mostly opinion, often duelling opinons- Docherty vs Fernet, for example, in this case, have very different interpretations.
But neither are mainstream, Clarin opinions, and a lot of what they write about sees almost zero coverage in the english language press.

Plus, Ricardo Fort is still dead. But without those pictures on the Bubble, I would never have been able to appreciate how that man rocked eyeshadow.

Still, not dead enough.

OK, why would anyone care [appreciate] how Fort wore eye shadow. The guy looks like a freak and eye shadow is just an afterthought.

Fascism was very popular in Italy 1925 to 1941. Do you think the majority of the Italian society wass blind, sick, or just didn't know a squat of politics and what is good for them?

Communism was very popular in the Soviet Union 1919 to 1972. Do you think the majority of the Russian society wass blind, sick, or just didn't know a squat of politics and what is good for them?

Nationalsocialism was very popular in Germany 1933 to 1943. Do you think the majority of the German society wass blind, sick, or just didn't know a squat of politics and what is good for them?

Do you think Matiasba is able to drop the automatically generated answers and start thinking own thoughts?

Whatever Peronism's shortcomings, they don't come remotely close to Nazism, Italian Fascism, or Soviet Communism.

I once saw Divine perform a cabaret act live. I saw Bob Flanagan pound nails thru his scrotum while singing "If I Had a Hammer". I saw Wendy O Williams chainsaw a guitar in half on stage while it was still sustaining a feedback chord, wearing nothing above the waist but two crosses of black electrical tape. I saw the Alien Comic. I saw Johanna Went pour five gallons of blood over herself wearing a nun costume. I saw Joey Shithead from DOA pee on the mosh pit during a song. I saw the Devil prance around at El Molino in Barcelona, waving an enormous dick. I saw a punk band once play an entire set wearing their tighty whiteys outside their jeans, with their jeans on inside out. I saw the band Polkacide play, wearing lederhosen painted with flame jobs, with strings of plastic sausuges hanging down from inside their pants.
And then, I have seen some real weirdos in my time, too.

Ricardo Fort seems pretty mild, entertaining in a old time 1950's camp way, and not very freaky at all to me. I thought he was hilarious. Especially that Lion King bit.
