Western Union money transfer

Maybe not. I never transfer amounts less than 500 because the fee is so high. 14 dollars on 100? That's pretty steep.
I fully agree and transfer larger amounts to myself for cash pickups but the receiver here in Argentina is concerned that larger transfers may trigger AFIP.

My error. Just sent a transfer to myself for a cash pickup and while the exchange rate is somewhat lower, the WU fee was the same.

FWIW: The fee for recently added transfer to pago facil wallet is currently significantly lower than cash pickup or bank transfer, also for lager amounts. Creating the wallet is very easy and seems worth the time. The transfer is also much faster, within hours or even minutes, I did it just once and did not pay much attention on how long it took.

I don't know where you're sending from, but I just logged into my WU account to see what the fee would be for sending to Pago Facil wallet from my USA bank and it's the same fee as sending to my bank account. 26.99 to transfer 500 dollars. These days, MoneyGram gives me a better rate when I send to Mercado Pago (also very fast). (The last few days, the rate is even better than selling dollars in calle Florida. That hasn't happened for awhile.)

I ran out of $100 dollar bills and had to use WU. I transferred $500 on Oct 3. I got a message from WU saying it would be ready on Oct 9th. My bank two days later said the transfer had been completed. Then WU at the end of the day Oct 9th said it was ready to pick up. My recollection from my last trip 4 years ago was they didn't unnecessarily delay the pickup back then. So I get a big wad of 1000 and 2000 peso notes. This was on the second floor of the Las Canitas mall which is really upscale and secure - so that's a plus.

In the interim, running short on cash, I noticed my local money change shop had a Tether logon on their window, so I asked if they did Tether, and surprisingly they said yes. I didn't check closely on what rate I got but it seemed close to the Blue. Next time, I'll check to see how it compares to the market rate for that time and day. In any case, I hope I never have to use WU again.

This morning I went to the money exchange here in Las Canitas and did a USDT-Tether transfer in under 5 minutes and got ARG$ 107,500 for US$100. In order to get $ARG 107,750 this morning from Western Union, I would need US$114.05. So you pay 14% more for the hassle of using Western Union.
