What Brought You To Buenos Aires?

I came/stayed here because:

-- It's inherently less corrupt than Europe or the US. (corruption here is small time, whereas up north everything is run by corporations and their purchased politicians)

This is simply not even remotely accurate. If you ever ran a business here and were forced out of necessity to get your hands dirty with the machinations of how all levels of government function, you would understand that the corruption here is indisputably much closer to Africa than to Western Europe or the USA. The amount of wealth heisted from the Argentine people by their government/mafia (the government is the mafia here) over the past 70 years is almost unfathomable.

Not that Mr Rooney can't speak for himself, but you missed his point entirely. Obviously there is corruption in Argentina, as you mention. But it's chump change compared to the trillions of dollars that get grafted in the US. How many billions randomly went missing in Iraq? Or how about that bailout swindle?

That level of money is simply not here in Argentina. If it were, it would be liberated along with all of the street level graft and corruption. A veritable symphony of corruption at every level. Just watch the orders for trains that don't show up, jets that never arrive, ambulances that don't get delivered. Magnitude in Argentina is only limited by the size of the pot.
