Why is it that every time something happens here the government doesnt like they always point the finger at criminal activity. The power problems were initally sabotage and linked to the Clarin group. Now it seems if i want a decent return on a dollar its got to be criminal. But the fact that a $1 macdonalds sundae stateside cost 3x as much here doesnt get a tic. The only thing tied to inflation here is the ¨blue¨

I think he meant "Las medidas legales buscan depreciar la moneda"

Gov't pledges to 'combat' blue dollar

Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich warned that transactions and trading of the parallel, 'blue' dollar would be fought against with the law, while the politician once more linked the unofficial currency to the criminal economy and narcotrafficking.

"We are going to combat illegal transactions with the law, they must be subject to the Constitution. The transaction is illegal because it is unregistered," the former Chaco governor asserted this morning.

Capitanich added that "when these illegal transactions exist, the aim is to create a mechanism of depreciation in order to buy assets at knockdown prices and affect the wealth of the Argentine people," before criticising "certain media outlets that are enemies of transparency", referring to publications that print unofficial prices.

Looks like my AFIP SWAT teams are about to get their marching orders!

Can someone please interpret the remark about transparency. Is he saying that the media outlets that publish the blue price are enemies of transparency? I'm confused. Lost in Translation?

Wait, don't the prices skyrocket when governments try to "combat" anything that is in high demand? What happened to alcohol prices during the prohibition era? What happens to the price of drugs?

I don't know, I have a feeling we need to control the drugs going into the Pink House seeing that these politicians seem to have smoked a little too much!

Supply and demand...ECON101?

No, it makes perfect sense in present day Argentina.
Publish the real inflation figure and you are an enemy of transparency.
Publish the the blue exchange rate and you are an enemy of transparency.

Keep all data from the real world secret and you are the champion of transparency and a torch of truth and saníty.

Before a well known forum members gets to it...I'm going to save him the typing effort and just say it:

The blue dollar...blue...red, white and blue. The dolar blue is a US conspiracy! Hence when you support it, you support imperialismo...that is why Capitanich, in his endless wisdom that he received after visiting Peron's grave, says that if you support imperialismo, you are an enemy of transparency.

Makes perfect sense!

what hes saying is that these media give huge importance to non transparent transactions as it is the blue dollar. If they made lots of front pages dedicated to the dollar blue, accelerating especulation, for instance, they can not talk of transparency.
Something like that he said.

Friends here in Madryn told me not to expect much because there's not demand here. Today, I got 11.10, which is not BA rates, but better than the 10 I got a week ago in San Martin de Los Andes.
