Market operators raided in 'blue' dollar investigations
Inspectors from the Central Bank, accompanied by Federal Police officers, today raided offices in the Buenos Aires Stock Market, where 'caves' that traded in unofficial dollars were allegedly operating.
According to Market sources, the raid began at 12.30pm and was completed around 4pm. Inspectors from the Central Bank and the AFIP revenue agency headed operation in search of illegal activities related to the parallel currency.
There have initially been no arrests, nor were any materials removed from offices. Only financial records were revised, to be later cross-checked with the official registers held by the AFIP.
Activity on the Merval Stock Index was not affected by the raids, which took place on the third, fourth and fifth floors of the building.
