Just came back from my usual cueva. I asked them if the Blue rate could be manipulated, they told me know. I also asked if the half-aguinaldo would have an effect again, they told me yes.

frenchie, the blue has been being manipulated for weeks. The government has been selling hundreds of millions worth of dollar denominated bonds during the past few weeks (via the ANSES) to push down the contado con liqui, which in turn has pushed down the blue.

Just do a google search for "contado con liqui anses"; you'll find plenty of information. I made another post about this, including a link to one of the articles from that search, but I got a message that my message had to await moderator approval (which sometimes never happens), so I'm trying again without including the link.

The aguinaldos are a massive amount of money; you would expect them to have an upward effect on the price of the dollar. We'll see.

They told you "no"? Change your cueva! Just finished La Nacion article of today that explained that TODAY the cuevas were pressured into not letting the dollar blue rise anymore and basically "price fixing" UNTIL The end of next week (when Ks much anticipated CEDIN goes into effect) the cuevas are being threatened with shut down, AFIP, (no toilet paper?)..so most of the cuevas are taking a virtual holiday rather than participate in the absurdity. They don't want to sell at 8.5 either! Que locura! So Frenchie, what now?

Indeed, it looks like (ieco article above = same content as the La Nacion one you mention) the Blue rate is quite 'artificial' right now.

I agree about the Contado con liqui but the Blue price is not indexed directly upon it.

We'll indeed see... within 10 days now (the Blue should gain 10/15/20% until early/mid-July... Unless...).
