Thats what I am thinking about right now Gringoboy... Sadly my partner fell for the screaming, abuse, threats, threats to call the police on her/me (and although I should have my letter from the court now to say I am a citizen its still not done and she is worried for me etc... Anyway - the tactics of this Norma character worked on her and she handed over the money - and I *knew* that morning that if she did that we were screwed... Its all in the post I did yesterday but that post hasn't been approved yet so nobody can see it - when you read the whole nightmare story (the last few days worth) I think you will be amazed...

(My partner is Argentine and I'll be honest - I *don't* know the law here that well - but in MOST countries there *is* a difference between a criminal matter and a civil matter - I *don't* see how either of us is going to get arrested or thrown into jail (?) My partner was worried about breaking the contract by not handing over the keys but as I said to her - this Norma b@tch is holding onto MY money at the same time - and it is only right that with someone who is a PROVEN liar and that she cannot be trusted that you take precautions... Sadly, in the middle of 24 hours worth of shifting, cleaning, removal trucks, taxis, and all the rest of it - and all the abusive and threatening calls to my partner from Norma enjoying her holiday in Uruguay my good lady basically succumbed to it and handed over the money... Anyway - its all in the post I did yesterday - at least I think it was yesterday - I am still recovering from the shift and having nightmares about the next shift in 3 weeks from now lol

I got lost, I don't understand why your partner handed over the money to the biatch? There is no reason whatsoever why the woman can hold your money. This is a temp rental not a 2 yr contract where you usually wait until the landlord verifies that you have no debts and all utilities, building fees where paid for. In a temp rental, you are a tourist, so when you leave you are supposedly traveling back to whatever your country is, nobody waits weeks to get their deposit money back! It is in the very nature of the contract. This being said, There are tourist arbitrage places in the city, it might not be a bad idea to report them in case they do not return the money. Consumers Deense is one of the few judicial things that seem to work, and you are entitled to use it, whether you are a tourist, citizen or resident. Give thema bit of their own medicine in legal terms, the old f//tard will be embarrased! Oh, and please do report them to AFIP as well.

Thanks for that Nik - basically she succumbed to the abuse, intimidation and threats - sadly this thread is now getting very disjointed and messy because what you want to know I've already posted in about three replies/updates here all of which are waiting for approval before being posted so I guess if they are approved and posted by tomorrow or tonight then everyone will be able to read the rest of the story and the full extent of the nightmare - I do hope they get approved soon because it is to EVERYBODY'S BENEFIT to know about these individuals and what they have done to us - and could easily do to someone else here... (in the case of this Norma ''woman'' - and I use the term loosely indeed) there is apparently a history of this behaviour - we are NOT her first victims...

PS Nik - you are going to LOVE THIS PART - you've talked to my partner yourself - she's a decent hard working woman - well, first this Norma ''woman'' tells her ''don't bother cleaning up, the servant will do it - just move your stuff, hand over the keys and you'll get the money from angel (the portero in the building next door)'' - anyway - this Norma turned up just before she took off for her holiday with her finger puppet geriatric de facto hubby zabaleta - she gave us half the rent for that month back in recognition that we were leaving on the 11th of the month - NOW she CAME TO THE APARTMENT and looked around and SAW that EVERYTHING was fine then - but NOW apparently she is saying we have ''destroyed the apartment'' and that is why we are NOT getting our deposit back - now BEAR IN MIND that just before she took off to Uruguay she CAME to the apartment and saw that everything was fine - but according to the portero Angel Norma is saying that its now ''insect infested'', we have ''destroyed the walls'' and have done ''major damage''...

Um - OKAY - *if* this is the case - if this is TRUE - WHY did she give us a refund of half of that month's rent and PROMISE that we would be given the deposit back as soon as we left and gave the keys to Angel ? She's not blind (not that I noticed anyway) and she had a very good look at the place and she knew damn well that we had done no damage to it - we are extremely good tenants - always have been - and anyone can ask the boys in the rental office about that - they consider us to be their best clients - but they are NOT very happy about this Norma character at all...
