8-N Protest - Ultra Right Wing Pot Bangers?

Anyone who doesnt take the trouble to inform themselves about the recent past with the ultra right running this country is not only ignorant but also insults everyone else's intelligence.

Not just history this is present consciousness and the living past.

Agreed.

And anyone thinking and or wanting to believe the protest has anything to do with ultra right wing interests has no intelligence to be insulted.

Iznogud I'm not going to dispute with you over this even if you are trying to pick a fight.

But if you dont see there are ultra-right wing interests only too intent to have a hand in this to exploit for their own purposes then do me and the rest of us a favour and try and keep out of trouble will you?

History in Argentina informs us about all sorts of unholy alliances ------------- such as alliance between the Monteneros and ultra right wing who were seeking to replace Videla.

In my own personal experience - not in BsAs - I remember going on a peaceful student march protesting at the sanctions busting springboks at the time of the detestable apartheid regime and the self appointed "leaders" who set themselves up at the front (they were International socialists IS - Trotskyists) who were at the head of the march suddenly disappeared when we came up to the police line and then we spotted them physically pushing the protesting group onto the police to get a fight going. Not that this stopped me from taking part in further protests and Im proud that I can tell my grand-children that I took part in "Not in my name" against the Iraqi War and the largest protest ever in Britain. Only that you need to have your wits about you and a look out for who are claiming to be fellow travellers. Everyone would have been a lot better off if the Mensheviks had in 1917 likewise the SDP in 1920

The major protests I mentioned in my previous post which effected deserved change also resulted in deaths and injuries. Not that the protests shouldn't have happened - nor that the vast majority wernt ordinary brave people without any coherant political ideology but who were prepared to stand up and be counted because they had been pushed to the limit - but simply that the propaganda and the action gets quickly out of most ordinary people's hands in situations like this.

Back to the OP - how would that sound if it was quoted and reposted by La Campora? Likewise some Ex-pat gets caught up in trouble associated with the current protest and how would that play out with the propagandists? Buy a cheap saucepan - if you can find any at the moment - and bang it I say.

Can someone post the starting points of tonight's march? Many thanks!

Now, where are my boots ...?

I don't think there is just one starting point, I think you just work your way to the Obelisk from you bario, but I could be wrong

Definitely no trying to start anything.

In my opinion, there's no link between the ultra right and what's going on. Other than the people who provoked this reaction using this absurd argument.
We do not have to agree, you know? Those few that have liked my statement seen to agree with it. You don't. Fine by me.

Back in the 70's I was too busy dodging bullets and bombs by the murderous terrorists (currently some of those in power) and some bloodthirsty uniformed to think of being proud or trying to change the world. So it happens that people, my people, just wanted and needed peace and prosperity. These few bastards decided, for all of us, otherwise. We got caught in a firefight by two small insignificant, inhuman and unmerciful gangs that tore our society up. Some of them are still at it. Settling unexisting scores 30 years after the facts.

Against those we march and protest.

Call me ultra whatever. I just want a future for my kids and what's on the menu it's not what I want. Flip-flops and tees, forgive and forget, a future. Is it too much to ask or should we remain stuck in some dark fight from generations past? Shall we start a new one? Cause the ancient one is definitely something the new generations knows diddly squat about and couldn't care less. Good for them. That's how I want to keep it.

1. Definitely no trying to start anything.

2. We do not have to agree, you know? Those few that have liked my statement seen to agree with it. You don't. Fine by me.

3. Back in the 70's I was too busy dodging bullets and bombs by the murderous terrorists (currently some of those in power) and some bloodthirsty uniformed to think of being proud or trying to change the world.

4. Against those we march and protest.

5. Call me ultra whatever. That's how I want to keep it.

1. Really? well the inference is that you insult me and my intelligence because I have an opinion which is that there are ultra right wing interests in Argentina and given the immediate past not a suitable subject for flippancy - but that might be unintended on your part

2. We dont agree, We can agree on that. Neither can be proved to be correct until well after the event and the bodies are counted and the outcomes assessed. Even then I doubt we will agree.

3. So you were hiding away in the 1970's but not now. Well I guess that's progress anyway.

4. Seemingly proud now - but not then possibly saved your life. In all honesty given the stuff that happened in the 1970's if I'd have been here in BsAs then Id probably have adopted much the same prone position if I could.

How did you escape conscription Iznogud? Dont have to tell me if its personal

Fortunately my grandfather and father didnt hide from the call up in the UK when faced with real Nazis and they got up and did something and survived. But then you dont believe Nazis and their ilk that they are still around now so that explains it.

5. I dont call you ultra whatever or ulta or whatever! Ive met right wing thugs however and for the most part they start off appearing entirely reasonable then go off on some weirdness and then follow it up with some craziness dressed up in nationalism or whatever and whitter on justifying the unjustifiable. Does that description fit you? Hopefully no.

And not prepared to let "the next generation" know about the mistakes of the past. Woefully irresponsible for someone who says they are concerned about future generations but that's only my opinion.

"Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it." This is so monotonously repetitive in Argentine history it's unbelievable to me how anyone could venture such a suggestion but there you go Iznogud. It's not clear cut but if your dearest Iznogud prodigy dont hear about history from you then the chances are they will hear about it elsewhere in some rather more distorted way.

Hopefully a peaceful event with no incident on the periphery that's what we all want. If you want to come back on this Iznogud no problem - end of discussion as far as Im concerned apart from my suggesting to you that trainers are a better option than flip-flops since as far as I can tell from your posting this is your first experience in the matter

The intelligence insulting reference is all yours. It's your "either/or" exclusive choice.
Having no other alternative, I'd say you are wrong as far as the majority of us are concerned but if you and your intelligence should feel insulted, then please go ahead and feel plenty insulted. Your game, I'm simply not playing it.

Life is made of shades of grey. Your statements leave no room for nuance.

You mentioning the shit was going on 40 years ago and trying to pitifully attach it to what mobilizes people to march against current policies is ludicrous.
We have no choice but to live in the present.

You and your intelligence clearly operate at a different plane of existence than me.

Ask yourself this, how many people compose this ultra right wing you speak of. Multiply that by 1000 and still your numbers won't match a reasonable figure capable of moving the mass of useful idiots that will be banging pots tonight.

Try to adjust your views to make sense of the real world instead of the opposite.

I posponed la Colimba in '77 because I was at the university. After the Southern unpleasantness I was no longer required to join the Army. I did not "escape" shit.

This march tonight is the only manifestation of opposition available to the people.
Whatever other opposition there is, seemingly doesn't have the balls to stand up and be counted when it counts.

Certainly a few far right wingers floating around if its those that are at the protest.
