Whos next at bat in the great republic?

Chavez is dead but Chavism will remain alive.

The first, or one of the first Presidents of native/indian blood in South America. Quite a symbol indeed.

He wanted to create an Union of Latin American countries against the "Northern Imperialism", and this will be his legacy too.

The fact he dies young makes him some kind of symbol/martyr (important in SA).

He also was part of the leftist school among the Military/Generals in South America (this "leftist school" influenced quite a lot the nowadays Chile's success discussed in another thread -talking about before Pinochet).

Chavism will be like Peronism: Great influence over the next decades

Well, according to their Constitution, general elections need to be called. If the existing president does not, I think many groups will feel justified to resort to violence.

Are you referring to Fidel's apprentice Allende?
