Alberto: We should return to absolute quarantine

Just saw 6 PFA riot police tanks / armoured personal carriers filling up their tanks at YPF in Palermo and saw police helicopters overhead. Also more motorcycle police than usual seem to be patrolling the neighbourhood (Am next to US embassy so security is usually present but this felt unusual..)

Any idea where the protests are taking place?

The infection level peak will be towards the end of July ? with at least double the infections level of today ? triple?
Under total Quarantine protesting in Villas due to lack of food and monetary aid will be hard to contain.
It's either count the dead by Covid 19 or famine..?

European "Experts" claim that LATAM was warned earlier than Europe about the Pandemic thus went into Quarantine Earlier and now the countries weak Economies can withstand a prolonged Quarantine,,?

Cue the theme song for the Never Ending Story. Just as original as the last one. As if just extending a quarantine is magically going to make it go away all on its own.

More effort needs to be on testing (but it seems they are always waiting for “something else” to be able test more = Reluctant to use available money to buy sufficient tests in favor of other political “initiatives”) and isolating infections and clusters. Temporary laws could be passed to enable more aggressive contact tracing of confirmed cases which may intrude into otherwise sacred rights to privacy, as has been done successfully abroad. Villas where home quarantine is not practicable need to be provided with whatever they need and be totally sealed off from other areas as a preventative measure. Protocols in vulnerable sectors need to be improved. Today yet another nursing home was hit and numerous cases amongst medical personnel. Perhaps some hospitals need to be dedicated as COVID only to avoid cross contamination of people since hospital hygeine is obviously an issue today. Temporary restrictions on movement should be placed on risk groups - including the elderly as was originally proposed but shot down.

Importantly, individual responsibility to comply with the rules and protocols in place should be backed up with harsh penalties for incomplicance with zero excuses - no excuse for people to be out in the public space when it is not their time or to be having asados, birthday parties or sneaking around for family reunions or sex dates at times like this until things are a bit more under control. Unfortunately these behaviors have been happening all throughout the outbreak at all levels of the quarantine and continue in ALL sectors of the community. Possibly it is partly a symptom of too much repression and cabin fever.

At the same time, more things should be enabled to reactivate the economic livelihoods of more people (hairdressers etc) and measures to promote mental and physical health should be continued like being able to go running or meet a friend in an outdoor setting at certain times. In most European countries outdoor exercise was permitted all along and no scientific evidence to suggest that it lead to people being infected.

Useful messaging about hygeine and social distancing needs to continue, not just “stay at home.” That doesn’t help people at the supermarket who are wearing their mask incorrectly or touching things then rubbing their eyes.

Our only objective right now needs to be on finding a way to live as normally as possible with the virus while it is with us by keeping outbreaks as manageable as possible, as we have learned to do with so many other potentially dangerous illnesses step by step.

In my view, the government cling to the quarantine for two reasons:
1) They have no earthly idea what else to do, and
2) they have discovered that with all of us locked up they are free to do anything they want to do: dismantle the judicial system, free their jailed cronies, expropriate private companies .....whatever.

Completely agree that explains the situation we find ourselves in today. Utterly unacceptable and truly shameful.

And I would hope there is no one on here buying into the whole “runners are responsible for this“ feeding frenzy going on in some circles and never ending footage of the launch night fail on Monday.

Here is what every night has looked like at the same time (20:30) since last Tuesday in Palermo.

One has infinitely more chances of getting COVID at Jumbo, and even more chances of getting COVID by gathering in groups at someone’s home and talking, sharing food / drink etc.
