Are The Italians To Blame For Argentina's Demise

The term "third world" has evolved over time. Now it means a poor country. The PC term is "developing country".

Originally third world meant non-aligned. During the cold war the good guys were the first world, the commies were the second world and everyone else was the third world. Most of the originally third world countries were poor and that's how third world evolved to meaning poor countries.

I better liked when everyone was using the phrase such as damn those : Underdeveloped nation people : coming over to invade us !

Argentina seems to me more like a 1st world country that has fallen upon hard times and then been abandoned there for 30-40 years.

More like a country that consciously withdrew from the "First World" because it didn't want to embarrass itself trying to keep up.

As a point of context, the UN Human Development Index ranks Argentina among the just under 50 countries in the world considered to have "Very High Human Development". However, Argentina is near the end of that list, a few spots before the cutoff of "High Human Development". However, there was a gradual improvement into this category out of the High Human Development following the economic collapse. It has remained stagnant for the last few years, and likely will until a different economic program is introduced by a succeeding government.
