Business Partner Wanted for new (licensed – upscale) Vegetarian Cafe Bar

I for one am not negative about business proposals in general. I was raised in a family business, worked there my entire life until I finished college and then was an employee at a large multinational company for 15 years, until I came to Argentina a few years ago and now I am an entreprenur once again. What most of us are saying is while any business is possible give the right business climate, if you are not from here and are seeking key elements from a potential business partner, and they have all of the elements you are looking for to start YOUR business, it's HIGHLY UNLIKELY that anybody is going to join you and contribute money as well. If you say your "vast experience" in the proposed industry is what you are offering in exchange for these key elements plus their money, then you better be named Donald Trump or pretty much forget about it. Good luck.

I am new to BA and have, until now, been enjoying this site. I am a restaurateur from London, owning three restaurants in Central London. Knowing I'm always interested in something new, my wife - and quiet rightly so - pushed TheContractMan's proposal under my nose - I am SBrown's husband who commented earlier.

However I must admit I was shocked to read what then unfolded. I was hoping that this forum would be different to other I have followed in the past. But sadly no. Just like the others there are some who choose to help, and there are others who are merely showing off to fellow members. That's all this is. Showing off to fellow members. If you were genuinely interested and willing to help then do so, if not let the man use this site for what on best part it is - a bulletin board.

My wife and now others she knows in BA happen to be extremely interested in the vegetarian restaurant proposal. No she's not Donald Trump - well wasn't last time I checked - but she does know the best restaurateurs here, who given their success for BA, may as well be.

Ps. You can tear apart my comment if you really must have the last word. Oh and by the way my surname is Edmunds (Andrew Edmunds) Sadly it doesn't lend itself to poor puns - but 10 pesos to whoever manages. None spring to my mind. Sorry to be boring. And finally, this is post is probably riddled with grammatical errors and spelling mistakes. Never where my strong points.

Thanks
Andrew.

Andrew, here's my thinking:

Argentina is clearly a tough place to do business, and for many, a tough place to live.

Many arrive here with few resources expecting it to be cheap and a great place to start a business with little money. We all know this isn't true.

The people on this board for a long time have seen many wide eyed, perky, newcomers thinking they've found a little known easy place to do things they couldn't do at home. So they roll their eyes when another appears.

What they're not accustomed to is well funded, experienced business people who see real opportunity here. There is everything from multinationals to small restauranteurs doing quite well here.

There is much to be learned from those who have started and run businesses here. And there is much to ignore from those who don't understand what's possible with experience and funding.

CLARIFICATIONS TO ORIGINAL POST
1. Restaurant is already open and operating (albeit badly and at not full potential) with all licenses, permits, certifications etc in place (validity of said documents are currently being treble checked, but on initial review everything appears to be in order, further due diligence is now being performed, in addition to things such as successor liability etc – by specialist local legal + specialist in municipal administrative procedures) this is NOT a new start up.

2. Investment money for local partner with credentials and experience is NOT required (but can be discussed if you so desire) however partner MUST be local Argentine and who for an agreed-on fee is willing to act as my nominee, this arrangement will be structured through an Argentine company (SRL in place) with probable additional side contracts. (Garantia is also NOT required)
Please don’t post public responses on this point 2, it is a strictly confidential and complex matter.

3. Thank you for the responses and the many emails, I shall respond over the weekend to those that I find of interest.

Cheers Paul

The restaurant is already up and running and is not a new start up?

That's not the impression I got from the first post:

from 1st POST
"I have fully researched and searched Palermo, looking for the best locations taking into account high turnover objectives and ROI, and am excited to say I have found one! The restaurant itself needs little work, and with a few interior changes is ready to serve."

I wouldn't answer anymore questions here contractman. You've posted more than enough information. Those who really are interested in your proposal have or will contact you, the rest are just bored with themselves and just want to amuse themselves by asking you questions they don't really want answers to. Good luck with the business and I love vegetarian food by the way. Once you get the website up and running, send me a link, I'd like to be a patron.
