Can Anyone Possibly Think This Is A Good Idea?

You are correct! They are not "military" bases with soldiers as the US had and still has! Let's face it most big countries have one thing in mind THEIR PERSONAL BENEFIT! END OF STORY! This includes, Usa, Russia, China and others. Argentina thinks like a selfish teenager not worrying about tomorrow but on in him or herself today and NOW! This stretches from the enviroment, crap education in many public institutions, piblic health care, etc! And I will say again, it is not the only country like this but it is MY country!

It has nothing to do with xenophobia! Having the EU having a base in Chile(must say I didn;t know this) however, is one thing. Having China have a base is another.
And EU is foreign= xenophobic? A country that has no freedom of expression or press. A country which doesn't protect rural workers' rights in factories. ETC ETC ETC!
This nation can hardly be compared to the EU. SAD to say AND I MEAN IT SAD TO SAY as I only want the best for Argentina, they got it wrong yet another time!

The observatories in Chile are research institutions based there because the atmospheric conditions in the Atacama desert are ideal - cloud-free skies, in particular, for well upwards of 300 days per year. The European Southern Observatory (http://en.wikipedia....ern_Observatory) consists of 16 countries, whose facilities are open to the public. One of them (Cerro Paranal) was even used as a location for the James Bond flick Quantum of Solace.

The Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory (http://www.ctio.noao...nt/ctio-history) is another research institution which features the presence of the University of Arizona. It was located here at the suggestion of Chilean astronomer Federico Rutlant. It is also open to the public (Chilean and any other interested tourists) on a regular basis.

Chilean astronomers, by the way, are guaranteed substantial access to the observatories' facilities.

Argentina is always such a victim booo fuckin hoo
When the allied ask for Argentina's help in ww2 ,they lined up with the third reich lol and you think England and the US are gonna forget about that?
Who betrayed who?

Well, perhaps when the Embassador Braden asked Argentina to sell its grains during the war at the same prices than before the war while all the good rised it prices. Then.

That, however, did not stop the milicos from being one of the Soviet Union's main trading partners. Only in Reaganite fantasies was Argentina part of any coalition v. communism.

And we agree again.
The point is that after the war there was a consensus ammong all the political factions regarding that it was a fantasy to believe that we belong to the western christian world and that we should look for real allies.
Before only the left though so.

The US seems to have no problem doing busisness with China. For Germany China is it best client. So?

China is no ones ally. They are feeding an ever growing hyper aggressive territory machine in the Pacific. Aiding several rouge states. Stealing technology from anywhere and everywhere and think and plan with a hive mentality. Argentina is a bread basket for hive food.

China does not, to the best of my knowledge, aid Alaska. Sarah Palin resigned from a job that was simply too big for her.

Argentina didn't choose them, they were they only option.
While the US betrayed Argentina during the last war, Russians provided the intellegence to sink the Invencible.
While the US was boycotting AR exports since WWII, Rusia has been a loyal buyer.
The same we can say about China.
In my opinion, the alliances of Argentina are a big faillure if the US, but they don't care, of course.

Pretty sure HMS invincible was never sunk. Otherwise the Turks who bought it for scrap a few years ago would be pissed it was underwater off the coast of the Falklands never mind the soldiers who used it in the serbian and Iraq wars.
