Cheapest Ways To Get To Mar De Plata

Only a couple weeks ago, Big Al asked for an alternative to beach:

"Can someone please recommend a nice outdoors type of place by a lake somewhere not too far from BA? I want to rent something for a couple of days for about 8 people and take a little mini vacation, I want to avoid the beaches because for some reason I think its gonna be a pain in the ass."

Now he's asking how to get to the most crowded one (aka Mar del Caca) during January and February where house rentals are for 15 days minimum.

ummmm and your point is?? let me help you out here, could it be that me not wanting to go to the beach areas in the beginning was the 400 km drive with 8 people? could that have been what I was talking about when a mentioned pain in the ass? or maybe just maybe we decided what the hell lets just go to MDP, whats wrong with that? youre the forum police here? or is that a blogger pet peeve of yours?

Add to that breakdown on route for hours toilets clogged etc, passage rs on fire, rioting . etc ... travel time 12 hours---
The superpullan here looks alright to me, I dont know about the others though.

As a matter of fact, the MDP train is running and apparently with no issues. Last year, with all the problems it had, it was all over the news. This time nada, so they must have done something right.

Wow, I didn't know there was actually a working train system outside of GBA (I'm serious). I think I'd pick this over sitting in a bus in a traffic jam for 12 hours.

There's also a weekly train from Viedma (where I am at present) to Bariloche: www.trenpatagonico-sa.com.ar
