Countdown To Default!

Perón started the whole import substitution farce that ensured Argentines would have the right to purchase inferior locally produced items.

Sure, it was called WWII.
The quality and 'whole food' filosophy has little to do with how to develope an economy.

Let's keep on topic.

Perón had very bad things, like fascism and lack of freedom but he was wise on economy. He invested the money on atómic energy, hidroelectric energy, he developed acindar, aluar, etc.

Peron was president in 1952-1955 period (second term) and in the 1973-1974 period.
Atucha I construction started in 1968 and was finished in 1974. So seems that most of the construction was not done during the Peron government. By his inauguration, "Atucha I" was almost finished, and the investment had been done before.

Alfonsin served in the hydroelectric energy system much more than Peron, but his authority was undermined by the Peronist party and he had to resign before the finalization of his term, and his commitment has been hidden for political reasons. When Alfonsin died many people went to pay their last respects to him (without receiving any economical benefit, and without being forced). If it were not because of Alfonsin the energetic crisis would be much worse than now; there were no serious investments in the power network since the Alfonsin government.

Unfortunately what happened with the vulture funds was not a surprise to us, and the restrictions we have now will increase.

RUFO is a time limit to parí pasu. Regarding signing away our jurisdictional sovereignty, you have to thanks to Martínez de Hoz and Cavallo.
Tell me something..who was the genius of a president who authorized the clause? ...Peron? Isabela? Cristina? Menem?..... or could it have been Nestor Kirchner?

Peron president 1952-1958??1973-77 period?wow wikipedia really sucks these days.......i always thought Peron presidency was from 1946 -52 (back then terms were 6 years )reelected and then kicked out in 1955.... then came back in 1973 and died in 74,i might be wrong,i don't know, but one thing is for certain,Alfonsin ran what was left of this country to the ground(plan austral) among one of his best creations......the dude was a tool and blamed the peronists for his shortcomings and btw i'm not defending peronists, that's another bunch this country can do without

I was describing the 2nd and 3rd terms, confused 1955 by 1958, sorry for the confusion, but the idea keeps the same. Atucha started in 1968.
When Peron dies in 1974 Isabelita continues as a same government up to 1976, 1973-1974 is more appropiate for this description. I edited my previous comment.

Huh? Perón invented Argentine isolationism, and could never give it up. His successors have taken it to extremes, and simply make it up as they go along.

Are you talking about Peron's Austrian-inspired Nuclear Energy programme?
Yeah Tsar Vladimir I is promoting the idea of nuclear power around the non NATO-sanctioned World... good for the World as nuclear power is clean, efficient and relatively cheap. But why are we discussing Atucha III in a thread about the economic future of the Argentine Republic?
Is Atucha II even working at full capacity?
This reminds me of the article I read today in La Nacion or maybe even Clarin about the tanker "Eva Peron" commissioned by the Venezuelan Kleptocrats.... High expectations and unwarranted self importance for the sake of "National Pride" while the people have to deal with monstrous inflation to keep up with the market dollar...
So any idea? I last heard that the real "default" will happen tomorrow, that is today in a few hours...
