Well I certainly won't be queuing for a jab when Argentina finally gets the vaccine.....especially the Russian one.

Alberto Fernández confirmed the agreement with Russia....
"The President reiterated that before the end of the year they will inoculate 300 thousand people. ANMAT officials will travel to Moscow to speed up the approval process of the formula. "The first to be given the vaccine is me," said the head of state....And, between January and February, 10 million Argentines will be immunized.

"In March the vaccination will continue with other vaccines that we have purchased," he anticipated in a press conference he shared with the Minister of Health, Ginés González García. The President clarified that it is the third understanding that the Argentine government signs with different laboratories that are developing formulas against the virus that has the world in suspense. The other two were carried out with Oxford-AstraZeneca and with the UN, through the COVAX mechanism to which hundreds of countries have already subscribed to participate in an equitable way and get the vaccine once it is available.

In a query from Infobae, Fernández said that it is still not clear in which countries will the promised doses be produced. "It is produced in many places, the first ones will come from Russia, but the scale production will be in India or Korea, and it has also been proposed to Bangladesh," said González García. The Health Minister also reported that initially the Pfizer laboratory had promised to deliver some doses in December and others during the summer. However, the contract was never completed and negotiations appear to have stalled. “Remember that Pfizer was the first company the President met with; I suspect that there is an availability problem and that is why they do not dare to sign a contract ”, he analyzed.

Regarding the contract signed with Russia, the President acknowledged that "a preference in favor of Argentina to vaccinate 5 million more people in March" was included, and notified that next week a delegation made up of officials from Health and ANMAT will be traveling to "verify in situ the conditions of production and quality of the vaccine."....

From what I've read the Sputnik vaccine seems to be destined for countries who have little other choice....even the Russian people aren't showing much enthusiasm for it. I'd rather risk catching the virus to be honest.

One of my concerns re: any of the vaccines purchased by ARG is in relation to the article published by La Nacion which I posted on 30 October 2020....see Page 9 of this thread.

A regulation was approved in the Senate that grants legal protection to the laboratories with which the State plans to close agreements to acquire the coronavirus vaccine. Credit: Senate Press
By a vast majority, although with strong warnings and preventions from the opposition for the concessions granted to the Executive Power and pharmaceutical companies, the Senate passed the law that guarantees a virtual legal shield to the laboratories with which the State intends to seal contracts for the acquisition of the vaccine against COVID-19.
The law, which was approved by 56 votes in favor and 12 against, declares the research, development, manufacture and acquisition of the vaccine of public interest and its sanction was urgently demanded by the Government with the argument that it is necessary to locate Argentina among the countries with priority access to the provision of the vaccine....
....The ruling party closed ranks and supported the initiative without restrictions and rejected the questions launched from the opposition....

Following the announcement yesterday by President Alberto Fernández about the signing of the contract with Russia for the acquisition of 10 million doses in January and February, the Argentine strategy to inoculate the population at risk in the 24 jurisdictions in record time begins....
How will the logistics, arrival and distribution of the Sputnik V vaccine be in Argentina?

....What will the logistics and distribution of the first doses be like throughout the country and who will be the first groups to receive it?
....The first to receive it will be health personnel, security forces, those over 65, teachers and other priority groups.
“We are going to have a vaccination schedule after March that we will follow for all those who want to be vaccinated and with which we want to give immunity to as many Argentines as possible. That's what AstraZeneca vaccines are for, that's what COVAX vaccines are for, that's what possible Chinese vaccines and eventually more Russian vaccines are for. We have analyzed the Russian vaccine a lot. Here in Argentina, some sow doubts about the Russian scientific quality. The institute (which developed the vaccine) has several Nobel laureates among its staff of scientists ”, highlighted the President at the press conference....

The Secretary of Access to Health, Carla Vizzotti will lead the trip this Saturday to the Russian Federation of the experts so that from Monday until Friday of next week, they visit the plants of the Gamleya Institute -developer of the Sputnik V vaccine- and Generium, which is part of its production process. During the visits, the technical verification of the establishments and the manufacturing processes used in the products will be carried out.

And the President highlighted the need to coordinate with all the provinces the deployment of the Armed Forces and the logistical support of the security forces to guarantee that the vaccine arrives as soon as possible to all the provincial capitals simultaneously. That is to say, that there are no districts that receive medication before others and that the distribution within each province is then coordinated with the governors. "We will make available all the troops that are necessary and if it is necessary for the 80,000 soldiers in the Armed Forces to go, it will be done," said Rossi about the massive vaccination plan that the Government is preparing throughout the country.

From the legal point of view, the Legal and Technical Secretary of the Presidency and the legal experts of the Ministry of Health have already promulgated Law 27,573, which declared "the research, development, manufacture and acquisition" of vaccines intended to generate immunity against COVID-19. This was an exclusionary step for the signing of the Government contracts with the supplier laboratories.
