Faced with this, Conicet researchers came to the crossroads and stated that there is not enough scientific evidence to affirm that the intake of alcohol can inhibit the effectiveness of the drug to generate the necessary defenses against a future infection by covid-19. In this context, one of the most important voices was that of Jorge Geffner, doctor in Biochemistry and Senior Researcher of the Council, who assures that drinking alcohol would not be counterproductive.

“The main problem is that things are taken out of context. On the Russian scene, alcoholism is a really very serious problem and the Vice Minister's sayings are much better understood. In Argentina, some media gave it to interpret it in a wrong way, as if it were necessary to have total alcoholic abstinence for 42 days ”, he points out.
