Why does Argentina need to return 811,000 vaccines that arrived from Mexico as donations in the coming months? A resolution of the Ministry of Health of the Nation reveals that the batch of AstraZeneca doses sent by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador have a "return charge." The details of the agreement that Alberto Fernánez sealed during his official visit in February.
The announcement of the arrival of the shipment of 811,000 doses of vaccine from the AstraZeneca laboratory from Mexico, on June 12, has an undisclosed story. There are details agreed between the Argentine President and his Mexican counterpart that so far have not taken public status, but were endorsed in a resolution of the Ministry of Health 24 hours before the Aeroméxico plane was received at the Ezeiza International Airport by Carla Vizzotti in person.
The point not communicated to society is that the vaccines "donated" by the Mexican State have a "return charge." That is, in the coming months Alberto Fernández will have to reintegrate to his counterpart Andrés Manuel López Obrador the same amount of vaccines that were “redirected” to our country from Mexico, given the delay in the immunization schedule for which Fernández received strong criticism.
In the information made public that the Ministry of Health circulated through the press releases, it was stated: "The 811,000 doses will be the first shipment released from Mexico that is part of the bilateral agreement for the production of the active ingredient in Argentina and later formulated and packaged in that country"....In any statement, in any interview, did the officials mention that our country should return the vaccines to Mexico....
