For a SIG like BAexpats, the number of respondents are sufficient to state with considerable certainty, that if you live as a foreigner in BsAs (capital) for a few years, you have a 50/50 chance of becoming the victim of a crime on some level, although the number of crimes per victim may indicate that some of our members either live or move in risky neighborhoods (there is no way to decide this w/o the barrios where the crimes took place and the board's polls doesn't have a facility for extra information).

Thinking of current graphs, there is an interesting post over at:< http://www.argentinepost.com/ > about "express kidnappings," with one experience included.
I keep telling people – obvously in vain: When in a taxi, lock the doors, lock the doors, lock the doors!
And the taxi drivers usually nod approvingly when I do.

Be street smart!

My crime experiences started in Southern California. At the age 10 some creep slapped me upside the head and took my boggie board in Laguna Beach. He was about 16 and I was 10.. When I was in 3rd grade two goofs wanted my lunch money and I said no, they responded by beating me unconscious. All in the good ol USA!

Take a walk in East LA at 4AM or East Palo Alto in the North!

CultureThis section requires expansion.
East Palo Alto is home to several rappers, including Sean T, S.I.C, Mac & AK, The Youngen, Chunk, Bigg Rigg, Band-Aide, Scoot Dogg, Ad Kapone, and Mac-10. Rapper Band-Aide of the Hoodstarz was arrested as of March 7, 2009 in a large-scale attempt to dismantle an East Palo Alto-based gang known as the Taliban.[30] The raid to dismantle the Taliban consisted of more than 500 FBI agents and Bay Area Police.
