Ezieza Taxi Costs

Mikic007 what DO you pay? What company?

To go to ezeiza during the day I usually take minivan (I shared link page before). It is 45p,with one big luggage 85. It's starring close to plaza de mayo. If not, I just stop random taxi and discuss the price. Sometimes I had to ask 3 taxis to get normal price, but usually first one is OK already. Now, in Saturday night or on rainy day there might be difficult to get someone willing to take you, since they believe there is enough work around, but at the end I got always someone.

From ezeiza you just walk to departure terminal and wait that some taxi drop someone off, then you ask for the ride.

The best is if they tell you taxi meter + peaje, which happened to me in half cases and is the cheapest.

Of course, to get cheaper price you need some extra time, because if you are in hurry, you can't chase taxis around...

I travel to the city from Ezeiza airport, 2-3 times a month.

I always end up using one of the remi services near the arrival gate such as taxi ezeiza etc.

However, occasionally the remi services are over crowded due to some issues and have tried hailing yellow/black taxis from the road near ezeiza. I found that there is a mafia here. And the drivers always demand almost the exact rate as demanded by the remi services eg 450 $ these days. One time I even sat in the taxi and told him, I will only go by the meter but the driver refused to drive the car and ultimately i had to pay him what he demanded.

So I am not sure about other expats claiming that its super cheap to hail yellow/black cabs on the street at Ezeiza. i am saying this with first hand experience.

I'm not that frequent, but I'm still few times per year there and my friends as well, with similar experience. Maybe you look too gringo, or we are just lucky, although in this case I should go to casino...

You tried to catch someone immediately, when he put people out? Because this always worked for me,usually in first attempt. Of course I agree in front what way it'll be and I always tip them at the end.

I spoke with one guy I got this way about ezeiza, and he explained me, that mafia is taking 100p directly. So you have to get rid of them, when they are chasing you around. But they don't have any real power...

I won't be all smart, when some of you are nonstop there, but at the same time I know there are people here paying 20.000p for the rent. There are always differences, something that works for someone, doesn't work for the other...

I do, for a fabalous 5 star property. Nothing wrong with it. And I am not a gringo who has just arrived in town as a tourist! Have spent several years here and know the value of 20,000 pesos in BA.

Coming back to taxis -

But my experience with trying to hail yellow cabs at a cheaper price has been a dud. Tried 3 times this year and then gave up. Why pay the same when one can a better car and a better driver with one of those remi services

I didn't say anything wrong with that, I'm just saying we are different. I wouldn't pay this money for rent, as I wouldn't sit in taxi and leave him to decide, how much I'll pay. In this case I'm not even sitting inside, because I'm already searching new one. Usually they lower the price when you turn to go...

But If I would have more money, I would pay more for the flat and I wouldn't bother with taxis at all...

I wrote something longer, got lost...

I didn't say anything wrong with paying the rent for that money, but I wouldn't (couldn't). The same is with taxis. If I would have more to spend I wouldn't bother to get them. But how is it now, I have more time, than money, and I know that sooner or later you get one cheap. But you don't sit inside or let him decide, what you'll pay, it's your money. And almost always when I turn around to get another one, they just accept normal price. Simple logic for them, xxxp or nothing.

First time here 3 years ago I ordered radiotaxi to get to tienda León. When I mentioned ezeiza, the guy proposed me to get me there for a bit more money as I would pay combined. Obviously some of them like to earn money, not driving pointlessly around searching customers.
