Fibertel

My Fibertel bill this month is a whopping $889,40. $630 pesos for Fibertel Evolution.

Still better than my monthly US $160+ Comcast bill in the US.

Have Fibertel Evolution:
Service quality depends on time of day. Peak use hours, 1700-2300, forget it: slow, slow and slower.
What I do notice with quality of service in BA is using the 500GHZ band on my router makes all the difference in the world. Building is saturated with users on the 2.4 GHZ band and service is constantly dropping out.

And change The broadcast channel. There is usually a large concentration on the same channels

Same thing - not unusable, but definitely slow at night. The good news is I never have anymore buffering on videos since having Evolution.

I'm close enough that I plug in directly to the router. Makes a huge difference.

I was wondering if you guys know exactly how Fibertel works??? Once the 'promo' is about to finish, you have to call them and tell them you want to cancel the service because it is too expensive and you get another promotion. Posta Posta!

I had fibertel for 4 years and speedy for 1 year and both services were excellent in Retiro.

I pay 500 for 30mb/s so 465 for 12 seems like not that great of a deal.

With the speed test you should change the server. The default is always your ISP ehich is why speed test usually shows surprisingly quick speeds. Also some ISPs prioritize routings to the speed test server.!

you'd think so but i get 1.98mb down and 500kb up on fibertel's speed test with a fibertel connection....

telecentro is great when it works but they like to oversubscribe lines and their technicians are crap.

Argentina is only slightly ahead of the cable situation in the US but far ahead of places like Australia and New Zealand where they still have data caps. Unfortunately the US has things like google fibre and local governments rolling out fiber lines. I think there's only 1 company doing fiber lines here and you probably have to donate a kidney and take out a second mortgage just to get it.

Yeah, later this year I'll be getting Gigabit fiber at a rental place in Vermont - up to 1,000 megabits upload and download speeds, 2 Terabytes in cloud storage, unlimited US and Canada phone calling, and 100+ channels for less than U$S 90/month. They're just finishing installing the fiber!

In positive news, Movistar is upgrading to 4G here! http://www.movistar.com.ar/4glte
