Fibertel

Per Fibertel guy: Import restrictions are the biggest impediment to improving service in Argentina. Government will not approve upgrades or approve importing new equipment. Fiber-optic.

It's 11:30 PM and I just measured 20 down and .75 up. I think I'm supposed to get 10 or 12 down.

I go into the fibertel office every 6 months and talk to the same young lady and get the promo, what ever it is for the next 6 months.

Oh and ours went up again, to $672 for 12mb + television digital, which my husband refuses to get rid of b/c of turnip. So we pay extra for what, Fox Sports, Espn and DisneyJunior. And we have Netflix so I don't even think my kid would notice if we got rid of the Disney channel

Argentina is only slightly ahead of the cable situation in the US but far ahead of places like Australia and New Zealand where they still have data caps.
This statement is quite wrong. Argentina is ahead almost no one in. Internet service here is very poor. And the import restrictions will exacerbate the problem.

I see that movistar is nowing doing 4G in BA for about $150-$499 depending on the package. The downside looks like it has capped downloads per month. But that should get around 6-15mb/s speeds.

As bad as the internet is here, i still wouldn't trade it for anything with a data cap.
