Fidel Castro Dead At 90 Years Of Age.

[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]You Australians ... your hypocrisy is amazing: 'racism' 'genocide' etc. are words that only ever roll off your tongues in relation to others..[/background]
[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]Such words would never occur to you in relation to your own aborigines, who you enslaved, separated families, segregated, and killed.[/background]

[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]So, Steve, do you approve of these outrages? You must, because it clearly says "You Australians" and - there you are. (And I'm sure you saw what I did there.)[/background]

[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]"[/background]I don't think Irelander meant every single American when he posted his comment."

Why? Don't you take him at his word? Maybe you know him and know he often resorts to hyperbole? Let's take a look again:

"[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]You Americans ... your hypocrisy is amazing: 'tyrant, 'thugs' etc. are words that only ever roll off your tongues in relation an opponent of US domination of the hemisphere.[/background]
[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]Such words would never occur to you in relation to Henry Kissinger, or any of the Pinochets, Videlas, García Mezas, Somozas etc. who did the dirty work, overthrowing democracy and instilling terror in the name of empire."[/background]

I don't see that he makes any exceptions here. But if he wants to clarify, fine. Yes, I will use sarcasm for someone with the arrogance to think he knows what I think and what I would do - without knowing me. He deserves ridicule if he declares 300 million people he doesn't know to be morally bankrupt. Does he want to know what I think about Kissinger, Pinochet, Videla, et al? Well, goddamit - ask me what I think!

You did ask, and in the proper context I'd be glad to tell you - not now because I know your questions were rhetoric in this thread. You and I don't agree politically, but I'm always aware of your principles and, while you get snippy once in a while, it's not your habit to use ad hominem arguments.

It's called dialogue. It's the opposite of arrogant moralizing with people you don't know.

Damn! As fine and as needed complete dissection as I have read in a long time.

I write the following to you out of respect to your new subordinates love of generalizations: I think you have a leprechaun and a Kangaroo jumping off to a hiding place for their emotional safety!

A UE press release referred to Castro as a Dictator. This generated a major turmoil. However the Czech rep mentioned that Castro cheered when the Russian tanks crashed the Prague Spring Revolt 1968

Cuba, 2016: criticizing a Castro, even one who's dead, gets you dragged from your home and put in prison.

Imagine how many of us on this forum would be in jail if the same were true here for badmouthing Trump, Clinton, or Obama.

Isn't it the way though? Somebody is always imposses their will - assuming that their way is best and kill off anyone who opposes them.

Ten on the flipside; you have the disgruntled masses in democratic nations shouting for equality under socialism, communism, marxism, blahblahism - because it sounds nice when you're angry that some got and you don't. The grass is always greener on the other side... that is until you get to the other side - but then you cannot leave.

I'm still utterly baffled by how clear the 80's interviews with Yuri Bezmenov ring true in the systematic polarization of society at the hands of a liberal -> communist growth.

Agree with everything you say, and would add just one thing: it does seem that the socialist/communist left's rhetoric always stresses love for the common man more than rightist regimes. In other words, the hypocrisy is greater as they impose their police state and enslave the population in the name of compassion for the victims. But a police state is a police state and it matters little in the end to the enslaved whether their masters call themselves left or right.

I wish I could remember where I first heard it but the greatest relevant insight is this: left and right at their oppressive extremes are not opposite ends of a straight line: it's a circle where "left" and "right" merge at the point where human freedom is extinguished.

EJLarson;
Exactly.Totalitarianism is the same old story --left or right. You gotta throw a lot of grey in the middle and participation.
