For Republicans, The Acceptable Approach To "free Stuff"

I am merely paraphrasing the Arizona congressional candidate, and following his thoughts to their (il)logical conclusion.

Nah, you're overreacting. Because there's nothing even that congressman (EDIT: congressional candidate) said that remotely says anything close to what you're insinuating.

Attempting to rationalize the irrational is a lost cause, but arguing the merits of slavery is beyond despicable. Still, there is no shortage of wingnuts out there to pick up whatever little slack remains: http://tinyurl.com/qfcejgm

Do you happen to know which Republican "wingnut" recently proclaimed, 'Africans Must Have Their Human Fertility 'Managed' and why?

But that's fine since he invented the internet...

And, since managing African fertility will fight "extreme weather" and "prevent overpopulation" I hope no one will call it racist.

You seem to miss the point. There are almost no similarities between the Democrats (who welcome diversity in their party) and the Peronists, who go out of their way to exclude what we might call PINOs (Peronists in Name Only). Republicanism and Peronism are both extreme conservative and xenophobic movements that demand purity from their followers, and will go to extreme lengths to rationalize their beliefs (as the Arizona Republican candidate did in defending slavery).

May I point out that Peronism as such is a mishmash of left & right totalitarian ideology/tendencies - NOTHING to do Republican or conservative leanings.. Peron was an opportunist dictator of military origins who went from left to right as it suited...NOTHING he did was to support the Republic that ARgentina is supposed to be, in fact the opposite is true, he did everything to destroy the local republican constitution & has always worked to undermine & dismantle the judiciary...I think you have locked into a very mistaken view of what we are dealing with here. Sorry.

Cristina pushed the right to gay marriage, what ever the merits, that's not conservative - and she's wholeheartedly Peronist.

...Republicanism and Peronism are both extreme conservative and xenophobic movements that demand purity from their followers...

You really dont have any idea of what youre talking. Not a single thing is remotely related with reality.

Just google peronism, investigate a little... the conservatives in this country are the anti peronistas. Peronismo was always a sinonym of revolution, of inclusion, of giving rights to the excluded and welcome and integrate poor people of the neighbouring countries. Do you think the current immigration situation is an accident? The Ks, very peronists, want people to make their dreams, nothing more far away than xenophobic or conservative.

Really, read a little more, even from anti peronistas historians like Felix Luna... or start with wikipedia.

Matías appears to define the term "conservatism" very narrowly.

The otherness of the Peronism is and always has been, the oligarchy. Fact.

How could you call Peronism conservative? what is what they want to conserve? Just google aguinaldo, vacaciones pagas, sindicatos peronistas. A little research of its origins. Google oligarchy in Argentina. Google working class + peronismo, and how this huge mass of people excluded till 1945 got rights, such as the mentioned above... google who were the target of the last dictatorship, google JP, or FAP, or Montoneros...
You seem to be very lost in your analysis...

If the "oligarchy" (a vague term if ever there was one) is conservative, then Peronism must be (neo-) liberal.

its not that youre conservative or liberal. There are lots of greys in the middle.
The same with left and right (although thats useful to know where people are).

Peronism has a lot of authoritarian elements. And demagogic. Peron was an admirer of Mussolini. What Peron did here was give all the power to the poor. It was a revolution. He propeled the sindicates, gave them a long list of rights to the workers. And from where did he take that advantages? its not like he did that and nobody lost, you know? of course those rights were conquered, taken away from someone who did not want to pay vacations to his workers!

and as I said peronismo had and has a lot of authoritarian elements, but Peron was not a dictator, since every time he acceded to power was within democratical elections, and in fact his detractors were the ones who violated the constitution, prohibiting for 20 years, sending him to exile, or overthrowing his democratical government. Every single coup of dictatorship after his government in this country was anti peronista and had an economic plan of deindustrialization, give the power to the oligarchy, prosecute the youth because of the long hair or miniskirt, or beer (a synonim of communism)....if thats not conservative you tell me.
