Foreigners may be forced to pay for free health care while in the country.

I get the impression this country wouldn't have any new buildings if it wasn't for foreign workers, all because Argentines are so militant. So I'm all for giving those who come to work here free treatment.
The problem is those who come over the border for treatment and return back to their country. Basically leaching off Argentinas goodwill - it should not happen because it hurts the quality of the healthcare system - this is a fact. Speak to any medical professional who works here, they are struggling with the workload and resources being put on the system.

Those workers should be hired en blanco and should have insurance. No need to leech the system. In any case companies that " hire " them informally are leeching they system. They should be fined.

In the UK anyone can get free treatment, paid for from my taxes. Perhaps there should be a reciprocal agreement for Brits.
Also bare in mid that the UK is an island, it is not surrounded by half a dozen countries whoe people can just walk past the border, use your resources and then go back home.

I wasn't aware that people could just pop across the border and get free treatment. You can't blame them I suppose but agree that should be ended. Even an idiot could see that was always going to be abused.

The 'slave trade' here is another can of worms.

In Peru they advertise "al included" medical tours to Argentina: bus, lodging, pre-arranged appointment at state hospitals, etc. Hospitals are swamped with non-tax paying medical tourists who pay nothing at all for treatment, and tax-paying residents must wait months for appointments. It is high time we started charging our freeloading neighbors.

The government is considering this option to stem the tide of immigrants mostly from Bolivia & Paraguay who cross the border to be treated in Argentina. But a foreigner is a foreigner, it would be discriminatory to single out people from Bolivia & Paraguay only.
Apparently this is taxing the free health care systems in the Northern provinces mostly in Jujuy & Salta but also in the capital.

These charges would apply to foreigners who have DNIs, even permanent residents?

....Regarding the request for reciprocity with Bolivia, in this case, health specialists say that for Argentina this would not work: "The reality is that Argentines will not go to other countries as they prefer to stay here. So the agreement that Argentines do not pay in foreign hospitals would not be any benefit and we would continue to lose, "says Arias from the hospital in Quichua, just 20 blocks from the border crossing.

After reading this thread I get a strong impression that Donald Trump isn't the only one that doesn't welcome foreigners.

I've heard this so many times here in BsAs. Macanudo can you show me any credible source citing Trump speaking or taking action against the 1million Immigrants enter the US legally every year? or the 5 million would-be immigrants around the world that are waiting for their applications to be accepted?
