La Huella is a really cute cafe in Almagro that also sells organic products, among them, organic coffee!

La Huella queda en Guardia Vieja 3802. Teléfono: 2054-6659 . Horario de atención: lunes a sábado, de 12.30 al cierre

Last time I was at El Galpon, which was several months ago, there were some people selling DELICIOUS organic coffee, I can't remember the brand name. Now that I fell off the green tea wagon and you reminded me, I'm going to go back there just for that!

That said, I agree, coffee is bad for me, but it's SO DARN GOOD!

For the person looking for nondairy / meat substitutes: forget the great variety in the US and become a treasure hunter and learn how to cook!

Defu, in the heart of barrio chino, Arribenos and Mendoza, sobre Arribenos, sells soy milk with or without sugar--ask which color tapita (lid) is con or sin azucar. It will taste a lot stronger than what you are used to, so I might recommend you try at least mixing the unsweetened with the sweet unless you really like your soy au naturel.

Some days they sell rice milk, leche de arroz con mani (with peanut). I don't know why with peanut, but I like it. This is only available sweetened and sometimes they have it and sometimes they don't.

Neither of these will keep a long time in your fridge, three maybe four days, which I think is kind of a good thing, they're not full of preservatives and stabilizers and whatnot.

Then of course you will find tons of various kinds of tofu in Defu as well. I haven't seen any kind of meat substitute besides soy products here, so it's a really good time to learn how to combine beans, nuts, and grains like quinoa to get your protein needs taken care of. El Galpon and various other places sell organic milk, yogurt, cheese and eggs or eggs de campo, not sure exactly what that means but I assume it's free range.

This week I will be living off the huge pot of Navratan Korma I made today. here's the recipe for anyone interested:

Hi, is anyone still involved in this? I was just reading through and I see a lot of it is old but some in 2011. I had a bout with a tumor and skin cancer 14 years ago, delayed surgery and tried the Ann Wigmore program. When I started I was in my brother's care, very weak. Four months later I was able to return home and have been well since. However, if I return to sugar, etc., the skin cancer starts up again and it takes four four months, every time, to reverse it. I never have it surgically removed these days. I consider it my "canary in the coal mine"--my early warning system.

I have been lackadaisical though in restriction to raw and juicing and am making the effort to return to the original program. If anything is going on with this, I'm interested. I think there may be good places to eat out. I know that El Rincon Organico has an organic restaurant on Bulness, for example. For older people who might read this, I am in my 70s and was in my early 60s when I made a complete recovery. A visit to a doctor three years later showed that the tumor was gone. You can even get off pharmaceuticals in most cases so I hope you won't be shy. This is not just for the young. In fact, it may be MORE important for us!

There´s a list of vegetarian restaurants at the following link: http://insidebuenosaires.com/2011/04/15/vegetarian-buenos-aires/
Some also do vegan and raw food.
For organic and quality products check out the Saturday ¨sabe la tierra¨fair http://www.sabelatierra.com/ at San Fernando, El Galpon http://www.elgalpon.org.ar/index.php- next to the Lacroze subway station, and Granomadre http://www.granomadre.com.ar/, who also offer raw food cooking classes, special suplements such as krill oil and maca, organic seeds and nuts and the like.

Also- if you`re looking for certified grass fed beef then buy the cabaña las lilas meat. I know they sell it in jumbo but am not sure if they sell it in other supermarkets.

Hey, there is an amazing raw food restaurant called Kensho http://kensho.com.ar/ , they do courses too, my yoga teacher also has a one day raw food course coming up http://www.yogaestudio.com.ar/eventos/ and of course, cocinaverde.com does great raw food and delivers it 3 x a week, which is much easier than trying to cook it all all. Would also suggest alkaline drinks, buy them if in the USA, Good luck!!

kefir is something to investigate.. homemade obviously i have milk kefir grains if you want some
