How Safe Is Ba?

I see Iphones EVERYWHERE on the streets, by everywhere I mean everywhere, cause everybody has one, even the lower strata people, the maids, the porteros, everybody has one, so I see it A LOT. And yes, on the streets.

Do you know what an Iphone is?

Yes and priced about US$600.00 or so.

Dont agree with this. I see a lot, houndreds of people with their Iphone walking in the streets, in the subte, in a bar, etc. Same with laptops, lots of people in a bar working, or everywhere, is not that you cant or you shouldnt use it, is just to be cautious, be careful, be aware.
There are special places like the subte or microcentro where pickpocketing is gonna happen if you dont take measures, but besides that, excepting some dodgy street at night, its ok generally.

Just because there are bolduos flashing their Blackberry cell phones everywhere doesn't mean many don't get stolen. There are hundreds of people who use them in public, and hundreds who also get robbed. Restaurants get raided a lot and if you're lap top is on the table or your ipad, you can kiss it good bye. It's not an every day occurrence, but someone that's street smart would be wise to avoid too much public exposure of his or her valuable items.

Christ on a cracker Matias, to this day I've never had a maid with a smartphone, much less an iPhone. Hundreds of iPhones everywhere, huh? I'm beginning to think the Buenos Aires you live in is part of an alternate dimension.

Maids do own smartphones; one is on my Whatsapp.

You see hundreds of people in Capital walking with their iphones all at the same time and using them on the street and on the subte (I don't count bars b/c that's inside). I find that..difficult to believe. But hey, maybe you hang out in different places than I do.

And I didn't say you couldn't work on a laptop. I said not outside. But maybe you know more than the waiters at most restaurants who will straight up tell you not to work outside with your computer.

I was only here 2 weeks and every day I saw people using iPhones (well smartphones, but find it hard to believe thieves can tell what it is from a distance) walking, on the bus etc! This was in Recoleta area and on the 37 bus.
