Is the expat party coming to an end?

Well, folks, what we are seeing is prices in pesos going way up, and the amount of pesos we get for our dollars going down. This is not a good trend, and it reminds me too much of what we saw in the final 2 years of the last Macri regime.

This uncombed, dog-cloning clown hasn't even assumed power yet, but he's already run north to beg for more debt.

This is going to be a long 4 years.
20% price rises on the 11th is what is being circulated so people are prepared.

In Milei's defense my assumption was the same thing would happen with Massa, the only difference now is we're stepping on the gas. The amount of repressed inflation is going to be staggering, and the only thing we can hope for is that the dollar is able to keep up. December is going to be a rocky month, perhaps even more so if you live in Olivos, Congresso, or Plaza de Mayo.

Jimbob, you would be paying taxes either way, free uni or not. If someone studies and drops out, then that's okay - at least they had the experience without getting into inhuman levels of debt, which can cause mental problems and lead to substance abuse (or worse), thus increasing the burden on the taxpayer. Where's your humaneness? It's better that governments use tax money to directly benefit citizens than to spend it on some inhumane human trafficking scheme or some stupid coronation ceremony. You're paying for that too and I haven't heard a thing from you about it. Even if someone or two people drop out of uni, even more finish it and become engineers, scientists, medical professionals, etc, without being in a boatload of debt. This is a net positive for society - yes, they will earn more money, but they will pay it back 10x over in taxes, thus completing the cycle and fully paying for their education.
Why are so many people against simple, humane measures that don't cause any harm and only benefit? I can't fathom being so heartless. This short-sighted, self-centered thinking is very harmful to all.
Where is my humaneness asking people who can afford it to pay for higher education while child poverty still rises in the UK?

I'm just going to bow out now that I'm being character assassinated for having a difference of opinion as I find parts of your argument moronic and insulting.

I think the party will be a lot more fun even though prices may go up noticeably. Still it’ll be way cheaper than the US or Europe but the quality of life will improve as the new system will force people to produce and export, there will be competition in the domestic market. Believe me; Argentina has everything to export that’ll generate income but with the existing policies it was rather not worth to export or import. I know many manufacturers here were pessimistic when i approached them saying “let’s not waste time with this currency policy” as all the funds had to be paid through bank transfer at the official rate. All those western brands that left the country will come back. All those fantastic local brands will go abroad ( I know some of the big clothing brands personally and they all say opening up stores abroad is not feasible at current system). I don’t think Milei can give up on socialism straight away but even small changes will make a huge difference. Yes it’ll be more expensive than it is now but imho the quality of life will improve as well.

At Risk of being repetitive, but the audience changes. Someone said..

"Argentina IS and will always be the country with the most Potential"

Ever meet a poor politician?
I am guessing you have, like most people who disdain all politicians, never actually met one.
I grew up around local level politicans, and yes, most were poor. One I knew made his living as a commercial fisherman. Another, a bartender. Most had day jobs.
My late mother was a Washington State Representative, for example. When she first ran, in the early 70s, it paid about $3,700 a year. If my father had not had a job, there is no doubt we would have been "poor". By the 90s, it had reached almost $14k a year. She switched to being a judge, which paid better. Her eventual retirement was about equivalent to a higher level firefighter, nowhere near as good as a cop. In my professional life, I worked with a lot of politicians all over the Western USA. None drove Bentleys.
I knew a lot of City, State, and County level US politicians over the course of my 7 decades.
Aside from a few that were born rich, none achieved wealth thru politics.
Corruption certainly exists everywhere, but, in general, in Argentina or in the USA, very few politicians get rich by cheating, and, in the US, anyway, most get caught.
Recently, Ohio Republican Larry Householder did get busted for a $65 million dollar kickback scheme. He is in jail now.

And Hipólito Yrigoyen said, "No temo tanto a los de afuera que nos quieren comprar, cómo a los de adentro que nos quieren vender"

...which translates as "I'm not so afraid of those on the outside who want to buy us, as I am of those on the inside who want to sell us."

Obama enrolled his daughters in a private Quaker school favoured by VIPs; Jimmy Carter enroled his daughter at a Washinhgton DC public (i.e.'state') school to much media fanfare. After a month he withdrew her and sent her to the elite National Cathedral School. The NYT buried the story in one partgraph deep inside the paper.
Jimmy Carter is quite an outlier for many things, but fair point.
Then it's OK everybody does it..! Are private schools better..? Private care/schooling is for those that can afford it. ..! Conclusion : Politics pays..!
I agree with you but I just don’t see it happening in reality

Great take though the only thing is the debt is a “kind” debt as it’s more of a tax rather than a debt, especially since it’s collected via PAYE (assuming you’re a PAYE employee which is most cases)
