Judge Griesa Holds Argentina In Contempt

Contempt order could get ugly. Ever hear of SANCTIONS? The old judge could forbid any and all USA financial institution from moving an Argentine dime through the US financial system. New York Fed Reserve Bank comes to mind for one. AR assets are protected but sanctions for contempt is a whole different ball game. That AR credit card for an airline ticket would be useless, or even worse, contracts for AR soy through CBOT could be illegal. Tie AR money up until the cows come home. Do not know where it shall end but the old judge's options are limitless: contempt of a court order.

Amazing he's allowed to drive ? doesn't look very lucid
Why, because he's old and looks old. Don't be fooled like the idiots from Argentina that mocked him. He's scary lucid. Have a conversation with this guy and and you'll think he's 35. He knows the shit blows up in Jan and RUFO is off the table. The stupids here are the Argentina stupids that continue to dig in deeper and deeper until RUFO gone means nothing.

Limited, límited.

Watch out with the aul trumpsler, there'll be a golf course lobbed up in your back yard if you take your eye off him, the sly divil.

How can it not be in contempt?

Whether you like or dislike the ruling is another thing, but in order to get the best
bang for their buck and the highest likelihood of debt swaps at a favorable rate
Argentina made the scheme under US/NY jurisdiction, which means they are subject
to US/NY law. When you ignore the ruling of a court in 99% of jurisdictions that
means you are in contempt.

They could have avoided this by restructuring in BA but who would buy the bonds
under Argentine "law". Jumping in front of a car to be able to arrest the occupant
anyone?

Also, the concept of an independent judiciary is so confusing to the government
in Argentina it scares me.

Independent & Judiciary don't compute, except maybe in some Scandinavian countries.

Different types of corruption are ruling the US & Argentina, I think it's worst in the US (more sophisticated), but that's me.

Rules have been changed a lot in the US since the debt was restructured (already explained a lot in this forum), 95% of the time in favor of those non-US Vultures (who claim they are US).

If the roles were reversed, the US would do the same thing, with more magnitude of course.

US Justice system has been a total failure on this one (Griesa is senile, unable to understand the case, etc.).

Argentina is paying, there's no default.

US defaulted many times (by proxy or other). Let's be fair my friends!

Limited, límited.
The old New York judge's LIMITED power over a sovereign country certainly did a hell of a job tying up AR's $ 500 million bond payment: forbid (3rd parties) US financial institutions from disbursing payments. Morality is not in the equation. It is all about the Benjis, just like it is here in Buenos Aires.

The real question is why some entities based outside the US (offshore), not paying taxes in the US, are able to influence the Justice system in the US. This is not a case about Argentina, but about the US.

It's an US problem!

If the US cease to be a "light" for freedom, at least some other countries will show the lead.

Sad but true

Probably off topic, what the hell:
For me Frenchie, we (USA) lost our moral compass during the Vietnam War. Fat cats got the deferments and discovered a whole new way of seeing and doing things. They are in charge and have been for quite some time.
Couple of good old boys:

Cristina just called Griesa senile ...
